Trackir Software and Run as admin

Hey all,

I have just purchased my trackir 5, mainly for Arma 2, 3 and Dayz. The device works fine and the immersion is awesome!

But there is one thing that i will have to solve and i would like to ask for a best practice.

The trackir Software needs to be started with administrative rights and only grabs software running with the same user. If your main user has admin rights that`s totally fine, but if not you will have problems. For example Arma stores configs and saves in the userprofile so if i start Arma with my admin user and not my main user i will not find my config and my savegames.

So unless there is any way to make trackir grab software running in another user context the only options seem to be giving my main user admin rights (not a good solution by any standards...) or to transfer every settings and savegame for every game i have played before to the admin profile. Not a good solution either.

Is there anything i miss? I searched a bit but did not find a solution so far.

You need a registry key installed for the current user for TrackIR to work. First log in with your desired user then either manually add the key with regedit or add it automatically by running the reg file below.

The following assumes you have TrackIR 5 software installed in the default directory.

Start regedit (NOT as admin) and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NaturalPoint\NATURALPOINT\NPClient Location\

Add a new string value pointing to you TrackIR 5 install:

Path = C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\
