Track IR 5 - works badly in precision mode

Hi. I have some issue with my track IR 5 since I have bought it like 2 years ago. I did not use it much in last few months, so I am comming back to this issue, which still bothers me.

My track IR 5 is working somehow in standard mode, but if I switch to precision, it only works if I am very close to the device.

I am using trackclip pro and I tried to fiddle with everyting for many hours, so I am sure, there is nothing in the trackIR software I can do to help it.

The precision works when I am 40cm with the trackclip PRO from the device, if I go more far, the light goes off and its stops working with all the dots getting red in camera view.

If I use standard mode, I also have small issue, but the device is usable. It works but once in a few seconds/minutes the tracking light goes off for just a little while and than it starts to work again. This does not depend on any movement, it happens even when I keep the tracklip lying on the table, it just loses track for some fragment of second and than it works again.

The same situation is in any game I play, in fact its also like that in trackIR software. I am in a very small room, but there are no reflective surfaces behind me, also the light filtering treshold does nothing, except if I set it too low, even the standard mode stops working.

I am using win 7 X64 and there is nothing really not standard about my PC ( I also tried to connect only TrackIR to my PC without other peripherals, but its still the same)

If you have any ideas to help me out, throw them on me, as I am getting desperate.

I fixed the problem by putting my GFs nylon sock on the device (found this trick somewhere on the forums), the small dots disappeared and its tracking properly now. As my device is already out of warranty and I had it shipped from USA to europe, I think I will stick with this solution, if it works in long terms.
