The .DLL and Oleg response
The .DLL and Oleg response
Hi,
The problem is not Ubi, Matt Wagner the producer for UBI or even Oleg.
All are willing to include the .dll.
It's that Oleg and team has a very, very tight frame to get all the bugs stomped before going gold with F/B...They don't want to delay the release or they miss the big Christmas software season.
After the release of IL-2, Oleg put out a patch in a week or so...Because the Gold finish date to shelve delay is often several weeks to several months.
Oleg and team don't just stop working after gold release....as the stream of patches show.
So we might get in the first patch if we don't get included in the gold release.
He says it's on his work plan....It's just not a show stopper of a issue to him, Just a extra that he would like to include.
Last week he has said to me that he plans to get to it as soon as the beta issues are fixed....stomping bugs is Oleg's main focus now. As it should be, However a little continued support from you folks on the UBI and SimHq boards doesn't hurt.
I don't belive it is a big programing issue just a matter of him getting some programer time as they are all wrapped up in the real issues of F/B.
I'm in contact with him frequently about another project I'm doing for him, so we have his ear, it just a matter of him getting the resource time to have someone do it.
Oleg has a workload that would kill me, I've e-mailed him at 1am his time and gotten a reply....I'm not sure he or the team even go home now as they are in the final push towards gold phase.
Please don't think that Oleg has ignored the Track IR community, it's just a matter of finite programmer resources and infinite demands from users.....Some times a wait is better then a no, just ask the CFS3 community.

Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
Thanks for the insider update bhodi. What you said makes sense. As much as I would like the TrackIR.dll, I as an IL-2 enthusiast much prefer Oleg and team focusing on a bug free release of FB. If anyone in the sim development community has proven themselves time and time again, its definitely 1MC. I have no doubt that when the time is available, the .dll patch will get done.

Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
Can you explain the issues regarding dll a bit further?
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
The most important thing to know is that the dll is coming. Its not a matter of weeks or even months, as long as its coming. Il-2 will be played for years to come.
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
As i have said in the Simhq forum i dont mind the wait either as long as the dll is comeing, please Bhodi if ever you can pass on to Oleg that we support him and his plan for IL2 in what ever fashion & time frame he sees IL in haveing a Track Ir.dll file
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
OK,
The folks that are not aware of what the .dll do a little info i guess....sorry, I forget that not everyone is a wired up to the issues as I get.
The .dll will give Naturalpoint the ability to position the mouse so that it does not need to be recentered every once in a while.
Plus it lets other features get implemented.
Such as dead zones and scaled movement so that it's less sensitive in the middle and more in the outer edges...so lining up shots is easier and checking your 6 is quicker.
That's why all of the other users are hoping to get it in IL-2.
Oleg knows something about flight sims that other designers don't....That most active player are into the tech issues.
Oleg likes that people debate issues. He worked in the development end of flying first and the discussion get's a little heated there to.
If Oleg takes all the negative with a grain of salt....He listens and is open to having new info.
The amount of research stuff that Oleg has is mind blowing.
I sent Oleg a book that I had owned since childhood....finding another copy was really hard.
I had to search for several months with a book dealer to get another copy, I sent Oleg my old copy as I thought he might like it....He wrote back that it was neat to read it in English as he had copy in Russian and German and each was different...plus my copy had pictures he had not seen.
That's how well read he is.
Also Unknow to most flamers on the boards, Oleg has a network of folks that have Parents and grandparents who flew these aircraft.....We sit them down and ask then questions and let them fly it on the computer and report back to Oleg.
I expect that the P-47 and The P-40 will make the 190 debates look tame....however Oleg has ton's of real data and also input from pilots who flew it. So that guy in the basement who has read a ton of books and knows that a P-47 should do X and Y is way behind to curve compared to Oleg.
Just didn't want folks to burn any bridges if Oleg has to let us wait to finish F/B. and doesn't get the .dll done first.

Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
Just to add my two cents, Matt Wagner (the American Liason and lead producer for the Lock On and IL-2 teams) is very much a fan of the trackIR and wants to see it in both games as soon as possible. We are actively working with him, and are still hoping to have direct .dll support in both LOMAC and IL-2 FB when they ship. Keep your voices heared in the offical Ubisoft forums, but be polite and know that the good folks at Ubisoft want to make it happen almost as much as we do.
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
Said .dll should also help non Track IR users, many track ball and mouse guys, will kill the drift on those devices also. Hopefully we can set a gaming standard, no reason not to adopt it.
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
I can't get the center command (default is F12 I believe) to finction in IL-2. It works on my desktop but not in the game. Someone had told me this is normal and is because of a .dll not in IL-2. Is this correct? Should the Center command work in IL-2 now? Is this part of this .dll issue? Thanks
Re: The .DLL and Oleg response
Good news...... Track IR support
look for OLeg response...
