I run FSX and have been doing my research on TrackIR 5 before buying and so far it looks like a winner. I've watched a bunch of videos, read the manual and browsed these forums. I see nothing to dissuade me.
One question I have never seen asked or answered though, is what happens when you switch camera views? Everything I've seen references the virtual cockpit. This is great since it eliminates the need to use most other views. But on occasion I like to go to another view. IE: top down view.
What does TrackIR do when you go to another view?

Hello GrandpaKim,
The TrackIR only works in virtual cockpit mode. You can switch to other modes but the TrackIR will not do anything in them. I would advise pausing the TrackIR (F9 by default) before switching to other modes and using your hat switch to look around in them.
Best regards,

Thanks Mike, that's what I was hoping for.
I gather pausing first is precautionary but not essential? I know I will forget to do that regularly.

GrandpaKim,
Yes pausing is precautionary, but it could disable TrackIR and need it to be restarted. It is very rare, but do your best to remember so the 1 in a 1,000,000 doesn't happen to you!

Re: Other camera views
If I may, I'd like to ask another question in the same vein.
With TrackIR, I no longer need my hat switch to pan around so I will likely assign it another function, however I still want that "pan" functionality for other views. In other words, the hat switch would have different functions depending on the current view. Is this possible? Or would that create a conflict?
After further research, it seems the trap/untrap function will allow this. Correct?
