TrackIR 5 going crazy

After using my TrackIR 5 for three years (it's no fun flying in FSX without it any more!) it suddenly started going crazy around 30 seconds after switching it on. Shutting down and restarting it brought the proper function back, but again just for about 30 seconds to one minute. When I open the TrackIR window and choose "Display" I should see the 3 green dots representing the reflectors on my hat. But I could mainly see many red dots instead (see attached screenshot). After shutting it down and restarting the TrackIR 5 software several more times it is just dead. The camera does not track anything any more.
Has anybody had such failure? Do you know a way to wake it up again? From my point-of-view it looks like a hardware failure... Who has an idea?

Hello Felix,

There could be a couple of things that may help, but it appears to me as a hardware failure. Would you create a ticket with me by going to help.naturalpoint.com. I would like to look into your issue a little bit further, and once we have a solution we will post it here.
