Hi all-
After a tortuous week's waiting for my TIR to arrive in MA from Oregon (too cheap to pay for overnight lol) my unit arrived yesterday afternoon. Needless to say I was ecstatic and couldn't wait for my workday to end so I could go try her out. After reading the instructions, downloading someone's FB profile from a link off of this forum, and playing around with tweaking the software, I would like to say that I think the product is freakin amazing and I am gonna be a deadly pilot once I get the hang of this thing... also, have a few questions.
1) Is it possible for me to slow down the movement of the tracking in FB, without changing the ratio of head movement distance to screen movement distance? I find it moves so fast I get disoriented easily.
2) In the tracking tab, should the green dot move all the way across the black box as I move my head? Mine only uses a small fraction of this box. I have noticed the closer you are, the more it uses. Is this something that needs some type of calibration? Did not see anything about it in the .pdf file.
3) Is there a way to limit one axis based on the position of another? For example, when I use TIR to look up, I find that a small amount of left or right movement causes a view of "looking up and twisted" which is actualy useless and disorienting since it is the same as just looking up, only rotating the same frame. What I would like is for my left/right movement to be disabled if I am at max up or down. Is this possible with the current software?

Re: TrackIR N00b with questions
Hello:
Glad that you are enjoying your trackIR!
Some other forum users might be more adept at answering these questions, but here I go.
1. Yes, you can slow it down, just group your control points and move them all at once, that will lower the sensitivity.
2. The green box around your yellow dot should only move a small fraction of the actual viewing area. You are seeing the camera's view, with has a wide field of view, your head is simply in that FOV.
3. You should be able to accomplish this in Enhanced Mode, create a custom profile and make less movement toward the extremes of the X or Y axis. I am not sure this will give you exactly what you are looking for, but it is worth a try. Also, try increasing your smoothing amount, this will dampen your movement response.
