TrackIR clash with NVDIA driver

Post by Mollusc »

My PC is only two months old: i7-4790, 16G RAM, Gigabyte 970GTX 4G, Win7-64bit, 750W PS. My TrackIR5 is less than 4 years old.
Everything works well except for semi-regular videocard crashes to desk top while playing games using TrackIR. Drivers for both those devices are latest version.

The game vision (usually the DayZ Overpoch Mod but not exclusively) will freeze for an instant, then shrink to a taskbar icon and is not able to be reopened, even though my PC still fully connected to the game server (i.e. in combat or while flying or driving). Game sound is still fully functional and game death lurks nearby.

A click on the taskbar TIR5 icon opens the TrackIR window washed out to faint grey, overlaid by an error message: NVIDIA Open GL driver detected a problem and is unable to continue. The application must close the display driver which has been shut down (or words close to that. I will take a screenshot next time). Error Code #3.

A further error window pops open with a choice of - close the application and seek info on the web or just close the application. No actual difference exists because no web reference has been forthcoming...

Mollusc,

A screen shot will be helpful. What driver version are you using? Is your GeForce software up to date? Has this happened since you built the computer or is it a new issue?

Mike
The PC is a new build with Win7-64. The GTX970 driver and the TIR5 driver are latest versions.

I changed a couple of video settings in Arma and ArmaOA (which DayZ Mod runs inside) and also stopped using the optimized video card settings. It then ran 10 happy days without a crash, but it just happened again tonight, as shown.
