TrackIR crashing repeatedly on load (not a TB issue).

Since I have bought TrackIR 5 (a couple months ago), I have been having a repeating issue with the application crashing on load.

At first, I found a "solution:" disable triple-buffering. I did. This only fixed the problem somewhat. As in, now I can open the program SOMETIMES, because it has only reduced the crashing, not eliminated it.

I frequently have to open the program multiple times to get it to load properly without crashing immediately. I do not load the program at boot. I wait until the computer is fully loaded into Win7 (x64) before I attempt to load TrackIR. Just tonight, I had the program crash FOUR (4) times in a row before it would open and load without immediatly CTD'ing. FYI, I am running AMD Omega Driver v14.12, on a 7870GHz Edition. These crashes occur whether I am using the Track Clip Pro, -OR- the normal hat clip.

Below are some of the crash log details from Event Viewer. These are all from tonight, they all happened in a row, before the 5th attempt to open TrackIR was successful. I should mention that my system is 100% stable, memory has been memtest'd 24+ hours with no errors, etc. This is the ONLY software I have that has given me issues since I built this PC last September.

Hello,

Please try these steps for me to see if they resolve the issue.

1. Download Catalyst 10.4 or earlier
2. Start install so it will extract Files to C:\ATI\Support
3. Cancel installation
3. Copy the File C:\ATI\Support\10-3_xp3 2_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF\B_96537\atioglxx.dl_ file to your TrackIR5 installation Folder (default is C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5)
4. Rename the copied File to atioglxx.dll
5. Start TrackiR and test.

Tried 10.4 and 10.3, 32-bit and 64-bit, and with each the same error message returned: "LoadLibrary failed with error 193: %1 is not a valid Win32 application."

This could be caused by a folder on your hard drive that has a similar name to the folder that contains the path to the service. I'll see if I can get the file and post it here. Have you tried testing this with an older version of our software? Would you please test it with version 5.1.3 Final so we can eliminate it being a basic software issue?

Will I lose my custom profiles if I revert to an older version? I spent quite a bit of time setting this up for Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen, and DCS and do not want to test an old version if it means losing all my custom profiles.

If you are worried about losing your profiles you can just save them to your desktop or make back up copies. They are just .xml files stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\Profiles. That way you can test any version without worrying about the profiles.

Hmm, that's weird, I couldn't get anything to load that day. No worries though, I seemed to have fixed the issue by simply uninstalling 5.2.2F and reinstalling it. Strange indeed! I will update this thread if I encounter the issue again, but so far so good.
