Getting Started

Post by slewis.ucdenver »

My lab just recently purchased Motive, and the basic idea is to use it with 2 Slim3U cameras fit with high zoom IR lenses to track a mouse paw's movement (so in essence we're looking at a very small volume). I haven't even tried to calibrate yet, I'm just trying to get the cameras to pick up an IR marker and be able to see it in Motive. But all I'm being able to see is similar to the attached image. Anybody know why it seems to cut off? Do I need to add more IR light sources from different directions? (I currently only have 1 light source arbitrarily placed). We're basically making a bare minimum mocap system, but I've only worked with full setups in Vicon and MotionAnalysis. Is there any documentation with simple information such as what the red x's mean? Any help is much appreciated!

Hello slewis.ucdenver,

Thank you for using OptiTrack and thank you for reaching out to us regarding your questions.

The image you sent looks like a couple of things I have seen out in the field. This could be a camera issue, or it may be related to focusing and what is being seen. I do not believe the 2D image should end so abruptly as it does in your image.

Could you please open a ticket with us at help.naturalpoint.com so that we can go through this with you? We will want to investigate this to determine how you are receiving these images and to perform any troubleshooting necessary to get this working for you.

Best regards,
Steven
