TrackIR 5.4.2 software crash

TrackIR software 5.4.2.27545 is not responding on startup and goes to a white screen and fails to start. Please help!

Can you go into your event viewer and see if there are any entries or error codes that will help me better find out what is going on?

bdowns,

The most common causes of an issue like this are either Malware or bad memory. Have you checked for malware on your pc? You could also use something like Memtest to check and make sure your RAM is not part of the problem.

I don't believe I have run into any malware as I am running a Norton Security suite and I am on pass 3 of 4 on memtest with errors so far. any other ideas? The programs runs fine in the system tray, as soon as I try to open it from there to calibrate or whatever, it hangs and crashes. I can see that it is recognizing the device, because it gives a serial # and stuff, but the rest of the screen is white and stops responding immediately.

I still haven't been able to replicate this issue. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it soon.

What happens if you go into the %APPDATA% location and delete the Settings.xml and then firing up TrackIR?

I'm not sure what folder you are referring to. In the Natural Point folder there is no APPDATA folder. There is a settings.xml, I deleted that and the same result, no new settings.xml file was created. In C:\Users\name\AppData there is no folder related to Natural Point or TrackIR. If I am. It looking in the correct place, please let me know.

If you hit the windows key and R at the same time, it will pull up the run box. Type %APPDATA% in there, and let me know if there is a NaturalPoint folder. If there isn't one, then it didn't get installed correctly. Remove and re-install the software, if it doesn't end up in that location again, disable antivirus during installation.

sorry, it has been a bit to respond. We had a bit of a bug run through the household the past week. So, I found the file and deleted it. The application then opened correctly. YEA!! so, I then made a couple changes in options like start minimized and start on windows startup. If I restart the program, those settings are reset to default and if I go look at the settings.xml file, they are still set to "0". if I change those two values to "1" the program will start minimized in the tray, but then it goes back to the same behavior I was getting before.

Actually, I just tried deleting the settings file again. When I open the application it opens normally, but if I close it and open it again it locks up from then on, it also no longer recognizes the camera after that first time.
