Tweaking with 2.0

Post by RSJeff »

First let me say that I like the new interface and the new "precision" mode - certainly improvements being made and problems addressed. But just a question or two: first, why, after installing the FS2002 .dll does my game settings page say in red something like "currently there is no FS2002 viewing mode available". And in the game, it seems like autopanning is on, even though It's definitely off in my settings - I can't keep my viewpoint still - it's all over the place, seemingly with a mind of it's own! I have tweaked the sensitivity etc settings without success. And finally, I definitely have a drop in frame rate with the new version, and I'm not sure why. I didn't notice any drop in frame rates with the 1.4 software. I minimized the program, but frame rates definitely are a little lower - actually considerably lower (from 20 fps before to 10fps now) and seem most pronounced in "precision" mode. I'm using a P4 2.2, 512mb, XP, 128GF4 Card, 30.82 NVIDIA drivers, with EDimensional 3d gaming glasses. Again, I'm a big fan...but just trying to tweak the new software. Any suggestions? Or at least consider this feedback.

Hi Betablocker ok lets see if I can help as I tested FS2002 a lot with the version 2.0 TIR softwear.

Qs first when you say your game settings page says in red that there is no FS2002 view maod available, do you meant the on the Profile page when you click on MSFS 2002 in the Select A Game box??

Now to see if we can sort this out, heres what to do first, open up TIR and go to the Profile Page and click on the <Creat New> in the Profiles box and type in FS2002 and click save

Now clcik on the Motion Page and make sure TrackIR Enhanced mode (Absloute) is ticked blue and in the Motion Presets pick Smooth, make sure your smoothing slider is at 75, next jump to the Main page and make sure Mouse Overide Delay is set to 0 (slider all the way to the left) Ok with that done go to the Tracking page and deselect "Static Filter" & "Aspect Ratio Filter".

With that all done go back to the Profile page and there should be a lttle * by the Save button , this means you need to save the profile so click it, dont worry if FS2002 is not selected trackIR enhanced games panel it doesnt matter at all for FS2002 to work right.

Next press F8 so that on the bottom of the TIR sofwear the Motion Mode reads "trackIR Enhanced" and minimise the TIR program as leaving it open will suck CPU rescources away while in the game.

Now when your in a plane does it work ok, it should you may need on enetring the plane to hits F12 (centering the view) if its still not working then we need to work out why.

One other Qs have you change any of the Hotkeys for the TIR program from the defaults.

On the FPS issue I have a AMD XP 2100+ with 512 Sdram ATI 9700 pro and im running XP pro I havent had any drop in FS2002 with the version 2.0 TIR program and I have done a lot of testing with it.

Yeah, sorry I meant on the "profile page" it says in red "Note: support for profile auto-loading is not currently available for FS2002". I just wasn't sure why it says that, since the program went through loading the FS2002 .dll during installation. In any event, the recs you suggested improved TrackIR performance for FS2002...it's working well, so thanks!
And by the way, I did change TrackIR hotkeys so that I could map commands to my joystick.

The MSFS 2002 note on the Profile page about "support for profile auto-loading is not currently available for FS2002" just means it is only able to use your currently loaded profile/settings when you are in MSFS2002 with Enhanced mode on.

The reason for this is that it uses a seperate DLL file to communicate with MSFS 2002 than the other games with trackIR Enhanced support. The MSFS 2002 DLL does not allow the NaturalPoint software to detect whether MSFS 2002 is running, unlike the other games which notify the NaturalPoint software so that it can autoload a profile if one has been selected.

3D Glasses!...If you have 50 spare and in need a gadget fix then yes, get a pair. But!..i recommend only if you have a monitor that can do 100-120Hz@1024x768 and a geforce 4 ti4600. Using them i guarantee you wont puke in 10 minutes but actually enjoy using them . I now have a Radeon 9700 so my glasses are redundant . Typical because the 9700 card has just the horsepower needed for the task. I hope Ati get stereo drivers sorted or else i`ll have to go back to Nvidia just for the stereo support. If you do get some i'll bet that when you sit in the cockpit of a plane in IL2 you`ll want to reach out with a cloth to wipe the dirt on the canopy Also the Omaha beach landing in Medal of honour is a classic but a terrifying experience in 3d...amazing!

Cool Dazed, I was about to oder some about a week ago but held off and fired of a email to them about working on the ATI 9700 Pro cards, the reply i got was to wait as they were working with ATI on driver support and would hopefully have drivers soonish rather than later.
