FS2004 and TIR4

Post by docrim »

Have just bought TIR4, loaded software, plugged it in, adjusted hat, etc., etc. All seems to be fine, Head in Mirror shows movements OK. However, when I start FS2004 it doesn't seem to "see" TIR4 at all. Should I see it listed with "joysticks" in the FS menus? Am I being stupid and missing something obvious? I'd be grateful for any suggestions or help.
Thanks.

All of a sudden I'm having the same problem. I stopped using TrackIR for a few months and now FS9 VBC doesn't move at all when I use the hat. Everything shows good, LED's on, heads moving correctly but the VC just stares straight ahead.

I'm sure it's something I've forgotten but can someone tell me what it is?

Edit:

I just re-installed the TrackIR and now the heads move correctly when I have FS9 paused and in the tray. As soon as I pop open FS9 the heads freeze for a bit then jerk around different directions. FS9 doesn't follow the jerks but does jump around as well.

TrackIR Version 4.1 Build 28
with Vector Expansion

Oh darn,

I've checkt some post further and noticed the "Tips & Tricks".
5. Non-English language versions of MSFS2004.

Make sure you have the standard language.dll installed with FS2004. Some custom versions of the DLL remove strings required by TrackIR.

Ensure that the notification messages in FS2004 are turned on. The notifications appear in the upper right corner in red when switching to the virtual cockpit. The setting is found in your fs9.cfg file located by default in:

c:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
[color:"red"] [Main]
HideInfoText=0 [/color]

Now the 'trick' in my particullar case:
I've made some movies from FS2004 and to avoid any messages I did disabled that flag, indeed.

Never thought that this little thing could be such a pain in the you-know-what-I-mean

Now the flag in the cfg has been enabled and there is Hollywood back into the cockpit!

Regards from Holland,

I bought my copy of FS2004 in Holland so I guess this applies to me. However, what is the 'standard' language.dll file? How can I tell which one I have? Which one should I have?

cheers!
