The issue is that I have been unable to reproduce in any way this issue.
I've tried to duplicate the issue, while reinstalling the the TrackIR software, deleting the TrackIR registry keys, etc..
As far as CFS3 goes there has been and issue with it just not working for no know reason. I have a feeking it has something to do with a hidden registry entry for CFS that loads with the CFS3.exe file. If this becomes corrupted this would then prevent the TrackIR software from working properly.

I would just like to add, that I too, have -zero- functionality from my TrackIR w/CFS3 as well. I would also like to say that NaturalPoint -is- partially to blame.
Allow me to explain:
NaturalPoint has -spoiled- us with a peripheral, that is now as irreplaceable as a joystick, or even a mouse. Having to fall back on "padlocks" and "snap views", is completely out of the question! We would now much rather move on to something else! If we can't use TrackIR, we won't use anyhting at all...
So, It's a double edged sword that NaturalPoint has created for themselves. Which, I suppose, should be seen more as a compliment than a complaint...
Anyway, I would love to see this problem fixed, as I am dying to try OFF (Over Flanders Fields)! I would like to emphisise the word "try", as I refuse to even "try" it without TrackIR...
That's just the way it is...

I've tried everything you told me in your posting. But nothing helped.
Finally I formatted my harddisk and installed Windows XP SP2 completely new. Then I installed all importand drivers (chipset, graphics, sound, cpu a.s.o). Then I installed the TrackIR software 4.0.29, plugged in my TrackIR started the TIR-software and updated the gamedatabase. After that I installed cfs3 an then the 3.1 update but not the 3.1a!!!
Now everything works fine. The blue LED is going on when cfs3 is loading.
I hope TrackIR will not stop working with cfs3 again. I don't want to kill my OS every two weeks.

I was never able to "fix" the broken TIR in CFS3.
However, using my backup hard drive from June, 2006 I restored all the rest of my since accumulated data and programs to the present. The exceptions are I have not installed FS9, FSX or the newest TIR software. I am using 4.1.028. Tir in CFS3 continues to work on this build.
I will soon be cloning this "fixed" drive to the one on which TIR died in CFS3, thus overwriting everything there. Before I do, is there anything NP might want me to copy and send to you from both the working and TIR-CFS3 dead drive so you guys can analyze what is different and maybe find the problem? Perhaps comparing registry values from one to the other may help.
Other than copying and sending some stuff to you I don't have time to do a comparative diagnosis myself. I already spent about 16 hours cumulative on this issue (initial attempts to fix, all the uninstalls, reinstalls and now restoring the old drive to this one). Let me know soon because by early next week the dead drive will be wiped clean.

I don't know if it apllies to anyone elses problem
but I was having the same issues the irackir 4 working in all other apps but no function in CFS3 (no blue light).
In my case I used restore points after a reformat to narrow it down to having USB mouse with it's support SW installed, in my case that being a Logitech mouse and it's associated setpoint app. Hope this info helps someone else out.

got the same problem. a long time ago trackir4 was wonderful on cfs3 but some day, i can't remember which day, no funktion in cfs3 , no blue light. Very strange.
