No function in CFS3
Re: No function in CFS3
I came to this thread with the same problem, since I recently got a TIR4 for Xmas to go along with FSX (howyadoon Vincent, think we've talked before at another foum out there )and also have been a VERY long-time player of CFS3.....which, when I finally tried it, had ZIP functionality as described here.
I read the solutions and responses, and decided to try something since at least part of the issue seems driver-related and you, Vincent, can't duplciate it....which of course points to system-specific issues.
Since I keep my registry very clean and don't expect corruption there, but rather a device driver or background conflict, I ran the "SmartClose" utility which any CFS3 or - certainly - FSX owner should have in their toolbox.
To make a long story short, SmartClose takes a snapshot of what's on your system and kills ALL unecessary processes. Then, when run again, it does a wonderful job of reloading them so you are right back to where you were in the "snapshot". Excellent for freeing up processing overhead and reducing conflicts. Not to mention FREE - Google search for it, and live happily.
Anyhoo....just wanted to say that for me, it was the cure. Ran SmartClose, let it take a snapshot and kill unnecessary processes (first option in the applet), launched TIR4 software, launched CFS3, and....Works like a champ - and smooth?? Like Butta!!!!
So, NO, there is no real conflict with TIR4, FSX, CFS3....truly the thing to think "long and hard about" is system configuration and background process conflicts.
And by the way I have been a CFS3 user since it's initial release in the Fall of 2002 and also have two installs of FS9, one install of FSGW3 on top of that, and FSX Deluxe, all running quite well and now all working with TIR4 to boot! The only problem between any of them is that uninstalling the FSX Demo can result in deleted registry entries for FS9, but thankfully there are fixes for that when it occurs (as it definitely did to me).

Re: No function in CFS3
I've been having the exact, same, problem with no joy in fixing it, and i've just downloaded the "Smartclose" programme as recommended by Stoopy.
Sucess! I've now got fully functional TIR in CF3/OFF!
So a big thanks goes out from me to Stoopy...cheers mate.
BTW, it's actually a pretty nifty programme all round, i can see it having a host of uses for gaming in general.

Good stuff, thanks for the input......
Re: No function in CFS3
Hallo,
i can confirm, that i have to exit the Logitech Setpoint Software to use TrackIR with CFS3.
With the Set Point software for my MX Revolution Mause
i can not use TrackIR with CFS3.
After Playing, I start Setpoint again in the Autostart Folder......
I think there are some more handycaps with usung the Setpiont software cause in IL-2 or FSx it seems, that TrackIR works better without Setpont on !
Sorry my English is not the best....

Re: No function in CFS3
No issue.
Re: No function in CFS3 - fixed mine
Had the exact same problems as virtually everyone else. All the uninstall / re-install of TrackIR and CFS3 had no effect (including deleting folders, cleanup of Reg, etc). Did notice the correlation to Logitech and uninstalled all Logitech apps that I had. Still did not work. Combed through the registry and removed all keys referencing Logitech. I then downloaded CCleaner and had this scan the registry for additional pieces of Logitech. It found a few I missed and I allowed it to remove them. Re-installed CFS3, then re-installed TrackIR - NOW IT WORKS JUST FINE
So - my problem was definitely caused by pieces of Logitech apps being left in the registry. I had a logitech keyboard, mouse, webcam and harmony remote installed.

Re: No function in CFS3 - fixed mine
hmm, thanks for the info and tip..
Re: No function in CFS3 - fixed mine
I am going to start adding back some of the logitech stuff and if I can isolate a culprit I will let you know.
Re: No function in CFS3 - fixed mine
OK..........
Re: No function in CFS3
I can also confirm, that after using "SmartClose", I am now able to use TIR w/ CFS3! It seems to me, that we can probably isolate the problem back to the Logitech software. I'll report back after I've had more time with it.
