Is TrackIR 5 worth it?
I have been using FacetrackNOIR for a while now. Although I like it when I play games like Il2:clod and Bos against A.I. when I take it into multi-player I have a lot of trouble tracking targets. If ind that software is extremely sensitive to even the slightest head movement which is a positive and a negative. When zoomed in to scan for far off targets the view goes wild. Also when watching your tail the system sometimes loses your face meaning that you'll have to re calibrate mid fight. I have tried using various profiles and tweaked endlessly with the curves and settings. Even more alarming is in Il2 bos, the view gets stuck looking up when flying any of the Me 109s. I was wondering if anyone here has used both FacetrackNOIR and Track IR 5 and tell me if it is worth the upgrade or if I can only expect a slight improvement. Any advice will be helpful.showbox speed test

No it’s probably not worth the price however there’s not much else on the market the sensitivity can be sorted out within the program parameters as a place it’s called sensitivity you just push it up and down hope it helps

Very old thread, but in case anyone stumble on this in the future, I would say that after using different solutions, TiR5 is far better than *anything* in the market. There's simple no solution (but VR) with low latency and high accuracy like TiR. Everyone else has latency and/or accuracy problems. Once you play with TiR, you simply can't stand the cheaper solutions.
Granted: if you cannot afford one, then by all means go for other solutions, paid or free, and that's fine. But to say that there's no difference or it is "not worth the price" isn't accurate in my point of view. If you don't want VR and have the budget, then go for TrackIR. You'll not regret it.
My history:
1st unit = Trackir v4
2nd unit = Trackir v5 (sold v4 and bought v5) - unit died 4 years after
3rd unit = Trackir v5 (unit died 12 years after)
Planning to buy 4th now. Problem is that I live in Brazil and taxes/shipping/exchange rates are crazy, almost trippling the price.

Hi JoKeR,
We appreciate your support and feedback. If you haven't already, you may want to look at our list of dealer (https://www.trackir.com/dealers). Since they import in bulk, they may be able to spread the import taxes across multiple units, and it may be more affordable.
Kind Regards,

Yeah, I've used both FaceTrackNoIR and TrackIR 5, and honestly, TrackIR is a significant upgrade. The precision and smoothness are way better. The biggest difference is the tracking accuracy. TrackIR uses an IR emitter and a camera, so it's much less likely to lose track of your head, even when you're looking around a lot.
