S!
As the title says, I'm trying to get my TracKIR3Pro to work with Falcon 4.0 with FF3 installed.
Which of the steps should I be following? I've tried adding the data to the falconbms.cfg file, I've tried the -head and TIRF4.exe but nothing is working... Or atleast, I'm not doing something right
TrackIR 3Pro + Falcon 4.0 + FF3 ????
Re: TrackIR 3Pro + Falcon 4.0 + FF3 ????
There is more than one way to use TrackIR with Falcon. So lets look at this way for now, as its by far the easiest.
You will need a small app called TIRF4, this can be found through our website.
TrackIR support is actually supported in the BMS patch, however if you do not use this then you can use another program called TIRF4.
Important... Read the instructions
1) Install Falcon 4.0 from CD then install 1.08 US patch.
2) Install Falcon SP4.
3) Place these instructions in the Falcon4/falconsp.cfg file using the text editor.
Set g_EnableTrackIR 0
set g_bTrackIR2DCockpit 1
set g_nTrackIRSampleFreq 512
set g_fTIR2DPitchPercentage 0.5
set g_fTIR2DYawPercentage 0.5
4) Install TracIR 3 Pro software version 4.0.0.021
5) Make Default setting for Falcon 4. Check box for Exclusive-load.
6) Install TIRF4 file to desktop.
Change FalconSP shortcut properties to
D:\MicroProse\Falcon4\FalconSP.exe head
(I have Falcon installed on my D: drive)
7) Start FalconSP from Desktop Shortcut.
8) Activate TIRF4 file on Desktop.
9) Return to Falcon by clicking F4 on taskbar.
10) Load a Tactical Engagement/Takeoff.
11) When you are in the pit of the F-16 aircraft, depress the 3# key to go to the 3D pit.
12) The blue and green LEDs should be working to indicate TrackIR is working properly in enhanced mode.
13) Move head to verify that TrackIR is tracking properly.

Re: TrackIR 3Pro + Falcon 4.0 + FF3 ????
Jazz-Man,
If you are really using FF3 with the included BMS, there should be two checkboxes in the advanced controllers screen in the setup menu for TrackIR 3d and 2d pit tracking, note though your TrackIR software should be running before you run Falcon for you to be able to turn on these boxes. It's even easier than Wayne's instructions. You can edit stuff like dead zones and 2d pit panning speed through the config editor.
So the directions for any BMS 2.0 included in FF3 or installed on top of SP4 are more like this:
1. Run the TIR software.
2. Run Falcon
3. Click on the setup menu
4. Click on the controllers tab
5. Click on the the advanced box
6. Click on the the "Enable 2d cockpit TrackIR" and "enable 3d cockpit TrackIR" boxes under the view control tab (which should be the first tab that pops up by default).
That all you really need to get it working but to customize the 2d cockpit cockpit panning (which isn't the best system in the world) you can run the config editor (my perfer method) or manually edit .cfg the entries for freqency and dead zones (for advanced users only).
Wayne,
Sorry I've been kinda lax hanging out here like I should
