Charlie, I'm with you. It's not a cheat in my own opinion, and my own squad has said many times when I described the functionality, that they don't care in the least if I use it or not.

Hey, they still manage to shoot me down (once in a while ) so it can't be that great a cheat.

Also, I've got to reiterate, with three monitors, being able to see more than past my six (swinging sideways for example) is TOTALLY rational, realistic, and should not be inhibited.

I don't know how this new limited version works, and don't want to know, but locking software range of motion due to some whining seems odd to me.

I hope Oleg ignores it as NaturalPoint should [have] too.

I think it might help to understand that Oleg considered it a bug that he missed- bottom line for him is that it's just not realistic.

We just helped him get out a fix quicker than he could have.

Like it or hate it, we feel that we should respect developers as the 'auteur' of their software. As such, we do what we can to help that.

So, it was *not* a case of succumbing to whining (although that certainly helped get it done as quickly as it did). It was just squashing a bug that developer wanted taken care of.

While I respect what you have done, all it means to me is im going to use TIR 2.01b untill at some stage i need to upgrade to another version because of a game or enhancments I need, I also wont be patching my IL2 FB as oleg put out patches as I like the 6 view and would have rather had it a option for those of us who play offline.

While Oleg is a great sim developer and I love IL2 FB and will probly buy his other flightsims, I get the impression he caters for the online crowed more and DOES listen to the whiners more than the whole part of the argument I think it would have been a simple and tidy solution to enable the 6 view to be toggled off and on in the relisim section and for online josts to be able to do the same. The view limits in IL2 were hardly realistic at all and need to be another 10 deg back either way but not straight back and overlapping on the 6 view.

Having Linda Blair as an option is fair comment, but you should remember that it's implementation was an oversight and this issue would never have arisen, nor would it be a matter for debate now, if that oversight had never been made in the first place.

If it was a oversight or not it doesnt matter does it, Oleg put IL2 FB out with it with
it in the game and the TIR guys loved it except for a small few and there beef was that the view btween the legs and straight up and back was unrealstic not the looking L & R straight back thats all they wanted fixed (ask DNME)

It seems to me and from what I could read the debate seemed to rage on the basis that it was unfair for online play and that Mouse & Hat users didnt have that view and most of the IL2 FB crowd couldnt care less if it stayed in as long as there was a toggle for its use online and that the Mouse & Hat users got the view aswell, as far as I can tell we have real life pilots in the debate who say that viewing that far back is real others say it isnt, I know that I can look back futher in the Tiger Moth I go up in once every six months here where I live.

But anyway Oleg put it in by mistake and now he will only listen to the whiners who want it out with shouts of unfair, so the offline users doesnt get a choice again.

Try an experiment. Sit in your seat and imagine yourself in the confines of a cockpit, strapped-in and constrained by the armor panels and with full control of the stick & throttle. Imagine for argument's sake that the straps aren't cinched too tight, allowing a bit of trunk movement. Now try and look dead-six with full view (non-peripheral) without rotating your butt (rotate from the base of the spine only). It's not possible.

Of course Siggi you are right clinched in tight I cant look dead 6 but I can see futher than what IL2 will let me with its restained views, however we have a lot of reports on Simhq and other forums that pilots didnt clinch them selfs in as tight as they do in modern fighters and relied on there lap belt more than enything, also i have watched videos and seen it for myself. This debate will go on for years and all ways will go on with flightsims and opens up every time we have a new one come out.

But I like the 6 view all ways have and all ways will, it compensate for me being in front of a moniter and unable to unrestrain my self from my clinched harness if I want too. I do agree however that the 6 view that TIR provided with the view Olegs omission left in was a bit too much and I would have preferd him to move it a little so as it never overlapped each other at its most rear, I belive choice is a good thing in games a want to retain that choice, next thing well have our Cougar Hotas & Rudder Pedals dissable because we have a unfair advantage on people with 12 crapola sticks.

Flightsim Technology moves on and if people want to get up there with the rest of us they should invest in TIR unit so they can be at the cutting edge of flightsim control

If it was Olegs mistake, Oleg should fix it.

Oh, and when I was strapped down, tight, in a F/A-18, I could turn enough to see directly behind my seat and out the rear of the canopy.

But, then again, these arent F/A-18's.
