360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
I like the view. And if it was a mistake by Oleg why would of they done all that nice art work on the back of the cocpit view?
Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
Sorry to jump back a few discussion topics here, but Dex, I have 3 beautiful 21" monitors and am going to get my Parhelia soon, and I wanted to know if this would work. Have you ever tried watching a DVD in widescreen spanned across the three monitors?

Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
I need to know something before I vote on the poll.
Will the v2.01 Final View restrictions affect any future software games/applications by restricting them.
If yes then I have to vote to allow the 180 degree option. even though I can't stand seeing it in my il2:FB experience
My preferred option which isn't listed is the soft option of having a toggle button in the software for users to choose. END OF SUBJECT ON THIS FORUM.
(this option will probably be a temporary button that will be removed at a later date.
Because the real answer will be left with the games/application developers themselves as it should be)
So Then that sends the debate over to ANY Games / Application developer.
The Debate in the case will steam over to IL2:FB Forums. And will end up as a toggle option selectable by the user offline and the HOST SERVER during ONLINE games. (Thats the queue for track-ir to finally remove there restriction option)
Those that are digruntled will be ONLINE Competative pilots only few in number but with a valid argument ( my opinion ). But Oleg will understand and give an option to choose to please them or he will remove the option and keep the view the same as per the mouse and intended design release, as is now. Or enable a Online Server host button in which case the argument will fizzle away like the old PADLOCK DISCUSSIONS OF PAST.
I'll wait a reply of sorts before attempting to NOT Vote

Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
On the subject of looking back, at a 6 o'clock view (sdoe did) and still doesit, actually, it swivels around 720 degrees, ! I used to fly on padlock too, and with someone on my six, I could move always out of their line of gun firet by flying all the time just looking 100 percent of the time at the following plane. I was feeling I was cheating involuntarily, I could do it so I did it!
It's something that you start to think is the norm.
But the snapping for the left side to the right side as a plane swivels either side of your rudder is to great and challenging and Seems just like the footage of some of the pretend air fights that have been filmed. I called that more real and Track IR is the only device that gives that sensation of ; "Crikes whats he up to, where the hell is he, oh there he is!" repeat repeat repeat.

It's just another passing issue for the onliners. If it is implemented, they'll quickly move on and find the 'next' cheat what needs to get fixed. The cycle never ends, been happening from day one. It just leaves the rest of us to swallow the line, like the engines that won't restart in the air once you stall them behind enemy lines, great for campaign players. Trim, they got fixed too, and caused a whole new riot among offliners.
The majority of online coops and fights have externals enabled to attract players any how. Press button and check six with a flyby, or external padlock. Good luck getting an advantage on those guys.
So you got a guy on your tail, you still have to out fly him, at the moment he's all the advantages. Going to have to do much more than stare him away. If he's good enough to get there with all that viewability advantage you got, I'd say your in for a tough ride regardless.
Some of the squadron guys just get a little too deep into the illusion.

Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
You miss the point.
Settings like external views and external padlock are deliberately put in the game by Oleg for ALL to use.
Unlimited view restrictions, Linda Blair view are deliberately kept out of the game by Oleg for ALL.
This is not about cheating, or what is realistic or not, it is about what the gamedeveloper put in the game and deliberately left out of the game. We should respect his finished product, instead of whine when we don't get it our way.
Oleg considered the unlimited panning ability an unfortunate bug. Respect, that's what this is about.

Apparently not on most of our machines. Are we the ones whining for change?

Re: 360 Needs to be Fixed for FB
That you have the ability to pan around like Linda Blair is not what Oleg intended.
He said it was an unfortunate bug. It slipped their attention because they don't use trackIR.
Ideally, the FB patch would enforce the view restrictions, overriding the new trackIR software with its Linda Blair panning. But we can only wait and see.
