I tried out a TrackIR last year around this time (a friend of mine had one). It would work under Windows fine, but there was (virtually) no Linux support. At that time I was told that the next version would support Linux. If it did, I would buy it without hesitation (to save my wrist). Can someone tell me the status of Linux support?
Thank you,
Dan

Zach is currently working on updating the linux drivers and we should have something in the next few weeks.
Hope this helps

Re: Linux support
I'm glad someone's working on it. Any news yet?
Re: Linux support
I have a new version of the package that should support all current and past models of the trackIR and SmartNAV.
In addition to having the firmware files included in the distribution package, this update uses libusb to talk with the device and no longer requires you to patch your kernel.
If you would like to receive a copy of this next version before it is released, please send an email to trackir@superlucidity.net and we'll give you the required download information.
Cheers,
