Closed beta v.039 adds mouselook view

Post by Targetware »

Just an update ...

Our recent closed beta release v.039 of the Targetware engine has added a free-form "mouselook" view. All I did was activate my Track IR GX head tracker product and began using my head to view around the cockpit instead of the mouse. It's sure terrific to be able to track "bad guys" when on their six ... up close and personal. It works pretty well, but as with all programs that use the mouselook intercept approach to drive it, there's some need to keep re-centering it.

Sylvan "sick" has received the developer's toolkit for the Track IR GX head tracker product from Halstead York, Director of Product Marketing at NaturalPoint. Using a code resident DLL hook approach such as what the MS FS 2002 has built-in makes it fabulous. It allows you to set non-linear sensitivity, dimensions of the cockpit (no more re-centering all the time) and even adjust a dead-zone area. The result is a very high sense of immersion and no requirement for constant re-centering. Sylvan will be adding this native support to the TW engine (hopefully for Open Beta) so players get the same advantage as those using it in MS Flight sim.

Regards,
Doug
