I'm about ready to blow a fuse.

Post by Siggi »

I got FB and fired-up TIR with software v2.0.

Everything worked except I was not able to adjust the speed. I went to v2.1b and ditto. Then, for no explanation I could find the speed started working but enhanced mode ceased to work. I next tried v2.1final, still nada.

Additionally the "Forgotten Battles" selection NEVER remains if I go to another panel, it always reverts to BoB. Also the profile never saves.

Pressing F8 does nothing. I tried mapping different keys, but I remain in Mouse Emulation mode.

I have uninstalled via Windows add/remove MULTIPLE TIMES, also simply by installing different versions of the software which automatically uninstall previous version MULTIPLE TIMES...except, my settings ALWAYS remain the same which indicates a bunch of registry settings are NOT being uninstalled when the program gets uninstalled.

When the enhanced mode WAS working I could hit F12 and have my view re-centered...I know enhanced was working coz I could do the Linda Blair 6pm view. Now F12 does NOT recenter my view and Linda Blair no longer works with the appropriate version (I know it's been removed with v2.1 final).

Basically this software is totally worthless and I am spitting with rage after spending over two hours uninstalling/installing different versions and running around to the back of my PC repeatedly to disconnect/connect the USB, then running FB to test. I'm tired, frustrated and P*****D OFF!

WTF is the deal guys??? Why don't the registry keys get deleted when I remove the software, coz I bet that's half the problem right there? There is no way to get around this SNAFU if the entire software cannot be cleaned out by uninstalling, and NO, I will NOT edit my bloody registry every time just because the GD uninstall routine doesn't work properly! That's what I paid 103 pounds for, commercial-standard software that doesn't require me to hunt thru my registry and possibly blow my OS in the attempt.

This simply is not good enough and I would appreciate an explanation AND a fix ASA bloody P.

And yes, TrackIRUSE is set to "1", not "0".

Maybe a little overheated there dude, but I can relate. I had FS2002 refuse to work, and also had FB refuse to work in Enhanced mode.

It turned out that removal of TIR software, then reinstall of FB to a new location, then reinstall of TIR fixed my FB problem.

Hey, !@#$ happens. At least these guys provide decent support, which is more than I can say for a lot of game designers.

Yeah, they provide 'support' in as much that they're willing to make wild guesses about their own software.

I fixed mine by going into the registry. I found a bunch of folders, one for every version of the software I'd loaded from 1.3 thru to 2.1final (all in one location). I deleted the lot and reinstalled v2.1. All settings had reverted to default EXCEPT my profile name. Obviously a reg-key I missed.

Clearly the creators of this software are somehow unaware that a) registrey keys are created that cause a problem with reinstallation; b) Don't get deleted upon uninstallation of the software; c) Are unable to therefore create a readme or forum-FAQ that specifically tells users how to CLEANLY UNINSTALL THEIR SOFTWARE SHOULD IT FAIL TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY.

So I, the user who know's JACK about this or any other software, will do it for them:

If your TIR fails to function and you wish to do a clean reinstall, first uninstall the software. THEN go into your registry and under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" open the "Software" folder and delete the entire "NaturalPoint" folder. If you open it you'll see it contains a further bunch of folders containg keys for all and any version you've ever installed. No wonder nothing bloody well works.

This basic level of knowledge about one's OWN SOFTWARE can rightfully be assumed to be a given. When it's not people like me are entitled to vent after wasting hours of time sorting the problem out.

Apologies to my forum fellows, a kick in the nuts for TIR staff.

Hey Siggi if you calm down a bit maybe some one will help you here, as it is you allways arive to this forum with a real bad attitude posting your msgs asking for help while shouting down the people who maybe can help you. I know it can be frustrating if something doesnt work but im sure it can be worked thru.

You seem to have major promblems with your TIR unit that most people dont seem to have or have had fixed with help once they made a calm request.

FYI I have unistalled and reinstalled every version of the Track IR softwear and I have never deleated my registry keys for it and it has worked fine for me.

Ill make this suggestion first and we could go from there if you come back here in a better mood for me to help you (others may i wont while your ranting) I think you should stick to either version 2.0 or 2.01b the version with the Linda Blair view so that if its working and you get it working you will know its working.

Well Siggi looks like we were posting at the same time .

Anyway you have found the promblem im guessing from your post ??.

The thing is Siggi maybe you have found a promblem the TIR guys can fix as this is the first time I have seen this about the registry promblem brought up in here, so in the end you have offerd the TIR guys information and they will fix it in some future softwear version so it doesnt cause promblems you have decribed.

So now I hope you are finding IL2 FB much better to use with Absolute mode than you did with Mouse mode as I recall you had major promblems with it loseing center and couldnt control it very well, FYI I increased my deadzone in a custom profile which I found better for my use, if you want my profile to look at im willing to email it too you ??.

You regard me as "totally rude", I regard myself as "forthright & direct".

I'll meet you half-way and agree I'm "rudely forthright", under the following definition of "rude":

"Coarse; roughly done; abrupt; vigorous; hearty". (Oxford Reference Dictionary).

I'm not malicious, I simply speak my mind. And if I'm robust enough to put up with flakey software that I've paid considerable money for I'm sure the vendor is robust enough to take a bit of flak without wetting himself as you appear to be doing.

Alright, now that I've changed my wetted panties, I'll settle for labeling you as "forthright and rude"

This is just proof why I, nor many of the other users and beta testers of this forum, will lift a finger to help him.

Just because its not your policy to be nice, doesnt mean we are going to listen to you rant like a little baby; only to find out that the fix was removing your head from your @$$.

So, you wonder why no one will help? Its not in OUR policy to deal with someone who acts like a child.

Oh get over yourself Charlie. I didn't come here to ask you or any other member for help, did I. And who the hell asked you to listen to me? I could care less whether you stick your nose in my thread or not. Knock yourself out or go blow, it's all the same to me. I came here to vent my frustration on the TIR dudes and demand they do something about it (and guess what, 103 of my dosh entitles me to do that in any tone of voice I like short of actual abuse or threats).

As it happens I fixed the problem MYSELF. Maybe you're feeling a bit put-out that you weren't consulted, oh great oracle of the little TIR sandpit?
And isn't it amazing how MY crossing YOUR line entitles YOU to be rude to ME, but TIR crossing MY line doesn't entitle ME to be rude to THEM. But of course, in your overweening arrogance you completely failed to spot that rather salient point, eh Charlie? Clearly YOUR line is special, but mine is of no account.

Like I said, get over your grand self. And wedge the hypocrisy.
