TrackIR won't work with MSFS on a new install

Installed Windows 11 and MSFS and the latest version of TrackIR. When I start MSFS the TrackIR software does not show the title, it stays at None, it does not turn on the blue light in the bottom right and on the 'receiver' the right LED stays off. Needless to say the TrackIR doesn't show up in the MSFS control options and it won't work within MSFS. Also needless to say TrackIR does work when checking in the TIR software.

Weird thing is that it worked flawlessly for YEARS before I reinstalled everything. I already tried to reinstall the TIR software: didn't help. Everything is up to date.

Now I CAN get it to work with the TIRMouse.exe but 1. that shouldn't be necessary and 2. I have the impression it doesn't work as it did before (without this exe).

So I am at a loss... I've tried absolutely everything I could find online but the TrackIR software simply will not see and register MSFS.

Any idea's?

Hello tup61,

Did you update the Games List after reinstalling the software? Have you tried running both the TrackIR software and MSFS 2020 as an administrator?

Hi guys,

I suffered this exact problem and it took me several hours of troubleshooting to finally have the TrackIR5 application recognise MSFS.

The rather counter-intuitive solution was actually to ensure that the TrackIR5 application is NOT running as Administrator.

Once TrackIR5 and MSFS were booted without administrative privileges, the application had no problem recognising MSFS on launch.

Worth a try...

Thanks for the replies. I solved it simply (...) by uninstalling 5.5.2 and reinstalling 5.4.2. I'll stay at that one for now. And perhaps ever.

It sounds like the trick is to either run both the TrackIR software and the game as an Administrator or run them both without administrative privileges.
