TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
Have been using TRACKIR since forever. Been using 5.4.2 and I guess I wanted to use the latest version. But with any newer than that the motion isn't smooth anymore. Can't really describe it the closest I can compare it to is a grid snap function. The movement just stops. In 5.4.2 there is some "accelleration" to the movement. Has the settings changed or is there a new setting? I am using the same profile and settings for the different versions.

Hello Miklen,
Have you checked whether the Motion Control settings (Speed and Smoothing) are different? What model of TrackIR do you have? Have you tried enabling or disabling Precision Mode?
Kind Regards,

Re: TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
I have the same issue as well.. Used to run well but only recently have I noticed that the tracking is stuttery, laggy, and delayed. I thought maybe it was the games, for example, Star Citizen but it's happening in the TrackIR app itself, which is then making any head tracking in games stuttery and laggy.
Troubleshooting I've tried:
Restarted PC multiple times
Uninstalled TrackIR 5.5.3 and tried all versions down to 5.4.1
Uninstalled and reinstalled graphics drivers
I have made a video to show what it looks like https://youtu.be/SVY4M6Dj1xA
Any tips would be appreciated as it's really jarring and unsuable

Re: TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
Hi SteveFrench,
Does it happen on all profiles? Does adjusting the Smoothing setting under Motion Control make it better or worse? Were there any recent changes (i.e. new hardware, new software, Windows Updates) that happened around the time you noticed this behavior? Is your TrackIR connected directly to a USB port on the motherboard (not through a USB hub)? Is the stutter noticeable in Camera View, or only in 3D View?
Kind Regards,

Re: TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
Thank you for your reply,
Happens on all profiles, smoothing doesn't affect the stutter, no new hardware change, plugged directly into the motherboard, and happens in both camera and 3d views. Camera view shows it in precision mode and 120 fps.
PC hardware is;
Intel i7 14700k
Nvidia RTX 4080
32GB Ram
2TB NVME SSD
Mintor is a Dell 144hz 3440x1440 with Gsync and Freesync off.

Hi SteveFrench,
Are you able to test the unit with a different computer? That can help confirm if this is a hardware issue or a software problem or driver conflict.

Re: TrackIR not smooth after v 5.4.2
Hello SteveFrench,
It is also possible that the behavior you are seeing is due to the TrackIR camera and the monitor operating at different refresh rates. I would try limiting the monitor's refresh rate to a multiple of 60 (i.e. 60 or 120 Hz) to see if that alleviates the stuttering.

Hi,
Unfortunately, I don't have another PC to test it on. Yes I tried reducing the monitor refresh rate from 144hz to 120hz and 60hz. Still, the same stutter persists.

Hi Jordan,
Is it possible to test with a friend's computer to see if the problem persists? When did this problem start? What version of Windows are you running? Is Windows up to date? Can you check to see if there have been any other driver updates recently, including to the chipset or the graphics card?
