Just got TrackIR - same issue.
Choppy unless moving the mouse around at the same time. In game is the same choppiness.
Any fix for this?

Hello CSAce5,
Track IR software isn't going to clamp at 60-fps. Keep in mind it is not a game, and the software is not representing how fast the Track IR is processing data. The reason you are seeing the frame rate jump when the mouse is moving over it, is because we are forcing the frame rate to give you proper mouse update rate when adjusting the view. When there is no mouse data, there isn't a need to draw that many frames. Lowering the frame rate when not in use also saves the GPU from having to work as hard.
Are you seeing any issues when the software is minimized and your game is running?
Kind Regards,

Hello marbtims,
Are you able to share a short video that shows the settings you are using with your TrackIR software? You may need to upload it to a hosting site, like YouTube, and then share the link. Are you able to test your unit on a different computer? This can confirm whether there is a hardware issues that may be playing a role.

I captured a video showcasing this behavior.. Same thing happens in games as well.. no matter if its minimized or not..

Hello Eian,
As I noted above, the reason you are seeing the frame rate jump when the mouse is moving over it, is because we are forcing the frame rate to give you proper mouse update rate when adjusting the view. When there is no mouse data, there isn't a need to draw that many frames. Lowering the frame rate when not in use also saves the GPU from having to work as hard. The software is not representing how fast the Track IR is processing data. That said, we do recommend using a refresh rate that is a multiple of 120 Hz (i.e. 60, 120, 240Hz) as other frame rates can result in some camera frames showing up on time to display them, and others not.
What value are you using for smoothing? Does adjusting that setting impact your in-game experience?
Do you have a video showing what you see in the game itself? If you test the camera on a different computer, do you have the same experience in the game?
Kind Regards,

Re: TrackIR 5 stuck at 30 FPS
Hey Jillian,
Yeap I understand and it is indeed more than 30fps while in game.
Limiting to 120fps in game seems to also help a bit producing smoother tracking as well but there is still some stutter which is pronounced even more when limiting at 100 fps..
I understand that theoretically if trackir tracks at 120fps and game is stable at 100fps those "unseen" tracking frames should produce a slight inconsistency.
A similar but worse experience can be simulated here by setting the framerate to 100 with 120 hz display setting. Which is worse since less fps than hz produce worse stutter than the opposite.

Still, in my case, tracking feels even choppier when running DCS at 100fps than what this mismatch should realistically produce, which is why I started looking into it. Not sure if its the same for others noticing the stuttering..
Btw Im on a 180hz gsync compatible display and very sensitive to stutter and fps inconsistencies which is why I limit fps in game close to the framerate my system can always achieve..
I haven't tried on another computer and smoothness value didn't seem to affect it in the same manner.. it's needed since if I set it to 0 it goes crazy but it helps with not moving around as much not stuttering..
