TIR5 won't work with latest software

Hey, I haven't used my TIR5 in a while - after starting it again (while having version 5.4.2 installed) it was working fine, but it was nagging me about update. So I've downloaded latest software version 5.5.3.
And the trouble started - when I start the SW, it does show up as a process, but that's all. No LED show up on TIR5 and it is just stuck there. I tried completely removing the SW, removing all the files from APPDATA, etc. Also don't have any Citix SW installed.

What could be the issue? I kinda can use my TIR5 with old SW, but it's kinda annoying I had to try to spend time and troubleshoot it...and it the end just had to revert back to old version. Is my TIR5 just old? It's #188xxx

Hello Kllrt,

It looks like your TrackIR unit is more than 12 years old. Some older models may not work with the newer software. If it is working with 5.4.2, I would continue to use that version and ignore the prompts to update the software (you can update the games list without updating the software itself).

If you do try the new version again, please make sure you have installed the latest C++ Redistributables (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/w ... w=msvc-170) and that you are running both the TrackIR software and your game/sim either as an Administrator or without administrative privileges. Also, when you reinstall the software, please note that the settings may have it minimizing to the system tray, so you might check there for the TrackIR icon so you can open the TrackIR window.

I did install all Redistributables, but tried it again anyway and didn't help. Also tried launching TrackIR as admin, didn't help either. What would prevent older model not work with newer software version?

Hi Kllrt,

Have you checked to see if there are any errors in Windows Event Viewer that may help guide you to what is causing the conflict?
