TrackIR support seems to be dying: LMU and PMR not supporting it

Post by shovas »

TrackIR is invaluable to flight, space, and race sims, we users know this, but there seems to be a trend with new sims dropping support for TrackIR.

Why is this happening?

For some people, it's like VR: No TrackIR, no buy.

Can something be done to help these sims get it done?

Hi shovas,

It is up to the game developer to contact us to integrate Track IR into their game.

Your best bet would be to generate some interest on their forums so that they see the need to integrate Track IR into their game. The development happens from the game developer with an SDK from us.

Is there some kind of downside for them? They seem to be leaving it behind. Is there licensing involved? They know how to do it, both of them have done it in the past, now they just choose to abandon it. It seems like a trend and I really don't like it. It's the only option if you're not willing to go VR yet.

Hi shovas,

As noted on our website, "The TrackIR Enhanced SDK is free for developers to implement". I wonder if the developers are unaware of how many users are still using the TrackIR integration with their software?

Thanks. Very frustrating to see them abandon it. I know it's very popular in flight and space sims but doesn't seem as much in racing sims.
