Upgrading from UE 5.2 to UE 5.6

Post by BrettW »

Hi, We are running a pretty complex system that uses Unreal Engine (Currently 5.2) and we are looking to upgrade our system to use UE5.6. I have done some initial testing with our project and Unreal Engine 5.6.1. The big problem we have is that we don't have a dedicated testing environment currently and UE 5.6 Optitrack Plugin is obviously running a newer version of NatNet which caused a conflict, bringing our whole system crashing down! (That was a fun one to own up to!)

My question is, would it be better to use the current OptiTrack plugin designed for UE 5.2 and recompile it to work with UE5.6 (I have managed to do this already) OR would it be better to upgrade our whole Motive system to run with the most up to date version of NatNet and add this to our current project running in UE5.2 while we continue testing and implementing the 5.6 upgrade over the next few months?

Thanks for any advice or insights!

Cheers
