I got my TrackIR today and after trying many times, my Windows 2000 machine refuses to find the correct driver for it. No matter what I do, it won't work. On another machine, it works fine. The only difference between the two machines is that the other one has a VIA chipset. Is there an nForce2 issue here? Anybody got it working with an nForce2 board?
Specs: Win2k w/SP3, Asus A7N8X Deluxe, AthlonXP 2200+, 512MB DDR400, TrackIR 2.01.
Anybody got it working on an nForce2 board?

Check in your bios and see if you have USB latencey support enabled for the mouse. I had it enabled and was causing a vibration in the forward view.

Re: Anybody got it working on an nForce2 board?
Thanks Bulz,
Well, hearing that you've got it working is encouraging (AND discouraging, I suppose). I'm not sure about that BIOS setting so I'll check it out.
I should add for anybody else reading this that I've already tried the 2.00 software as well as a powered USB hub - no difference.

Nope, the USB legacy (I'm assuming that's what you meant) option pan out - it was already disabled.
I've also tried not using the extension cord, tried using a PCI card, and tried manually forcing install of the driver. Nothing works. Looks like it's RMA time.

Hey Bulz, can you give some more details of your setup? I'd like to see exactly what's different from mine. My specs are:

Logitech MX700 cordless optical mouse
Cornerstone P1650 21" monitor
Asus A7N8X Deluxe with 1002 BIOS
AthlonXP 2200+

Re: Anybody got it working on an nForce2 board?
Here ya go Greg:
Win 98se
Asus A7N8X deluxe
1002a bios
On board sound
Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard
XP2600+
512meg Pc 2700
G4 Ti4600 128meg
Klipsh 4.1 speakers
Do you have any flags showing up on your HID devices?
Oh by the way, move your mouse off of your computer desk. Maybe it's picking up the sound vibrations from your speakers. When I have my sound cranked up a little I will get vibration from the mouse vibrating on the mouse pad. Cool gotta love that sub. LOL

Re: Anybody got it working on an nForce2 board?
Just wanted to mention that I solved the problem - but putting a second hard drive in my machine and making a new install of Windows. After talking to tech support and trying everything else, it seemed that something had gone wrong in my existing Windows install at some point and nothing I could do would fix it. The only solution was to start over ... or start another one. So I chose the latter.
TrackIR is now recognized and working nicely! Now's I just have to tweak it for IL-2: Forgotten Battles.
