Here's a Conflict I Beleive

Post by Mark H »

I've been using TIR for a very loooooong time - I know the score re set ups etc - this is first time I noticed this....

...... if I have Game-Commander2 in shrunk down to the taskbar the TIR tracked cursor motion is ok for a while but then gets really sticky, then free's up... and then gets sticky etc etc.

This happens whether I have TIR shrunk down or not in the taskbar or whether I use enhanced motion or not. I am able to repeat this every time - however, .....

if I lift Game Commander 2 onto the desktop, out of the taskbar, it keeps the TIR motion smooth.

I use V2 software btw.

I like the product and new drivers with FB a great deal to say the least.

Actually after a bit more testing I've isolated it even further...... as long as I "click" the mouse anywhere on the game commander icon or anywhere in game commander ... it cures the stiction.....

but if I then click the mouse on the TIR icon or anywhere in the TIR menu, the stiction comes back immediately.

So, just before launching FBattles, as long as the LAST mouse click is NOT anywhere near the TIR icon or anywhere in the TIR menus, mouse panning is smooth as butter.

I thought it was the fact of expanding the Game Commander icon from the taskbar to the desktop was the cure... but it was just the actual mouseclick on the Game Commander icon.

I use XP Pro btw. I've posted this over IL2 forum (SIMHQ) if you want my full specs.

Hmm, this is an unusual one. I don't have a current copy of Game Commander at the office, but will look into getting one to duplicate the problem.

Thanks for the heads up Mark_H.

After a lot more testing it's not Game Commander.

It's some issue with my desktop/TIR.

TIR mouse panning and absolute mode gets "sticky" unless my last mouse click (AFTER shrinking TIR down to takbar) is on my desktop and not on the TIR splashscreen.

Not a problem for me as the workaround described above is simple and works fine.

I've tried two TIR drivers and problem is there on both.

Not a problem - just adding to the knowledge base.
