Hi HeavyFlea,
Totally understandable that you're waiting and seeing. Just so you know, it's only a small percentage of ATI/AMD users that have this issue--we estimate about 5% of our AMD users. If you don't want to run the risk, that's totally understandable, but it's not a sure thing that there will be a conflict. (Frustratingly, actually, because it makes it even harder to reproduce and hunt for possible workarounds.)

Hi Seth,
Thanks for the reply. If they were available at best buy then I would go buy one today, no risk as I could just return it if there was a problem. I'm in Canada and would have to order through NCIX so returning it is costly and not easy.
I see why you guys would be frustrated.. but even at 5% i have to assume I'd be apart of that until things are figured out.
I'll have to wait and see how this plays out before putting in an order. and using an older driver or using some workaround isn't a good enough solution when spending this amount of money.

Roger that. We're still doing digging, trying to find some way around this issue. If we can sort it out, we'll be sure to spread the word.

Hi Seth,
I understand, that you need time to fix the bug. But as I can see now NaturalPoint misunderstand the present development of the Gamer market. We talk about the latest driver and the latest high end hardware for simulations. We talk about the nearest future in simulations and the next mainstream hardware. And as I can see you aren`t interested in. And really your estimation of 5% user is fare away of each praxis experience. Perhaps NaturalPoint should have a look at eyefinity and recognize the advance for all sims. Sorry Seth, but your disposition isnt a recommendation for your product.
Cheers

Hi Free,
Please don't misunderstand--we're 100% in favor of finding a fix to this situation, and we feel that it is critical to deliver to our customers. I was only trying to communicate to you that it appeared that you misunderstood Jeff's statement as implying that a new beta was imminent with fixes to the AMD crashing issues. That was not, at that time, the case--not because we don't want to find a fix, but because we hadn't yet found one.
We know that our customers purchase the best tech, and we expect TrackIR to work alongside all of it. But, because the source of the problem is potentially outside of our code base, debugging the situation is more difficult. Us wanting to find a fix or workaround is not the same as actually finding that fix or workaround.

Having said that, we think we've found a way around crashing issues for AMD customers that is specific to
ONE scenario:
- Vertical Sync turned ON
- Triple Buffering turned ON
If any of you have had crashes with these settings on, please try this new build of the TrackIR software, and then report back with your experience:
http://media.naturalpoint.com/ftp/npupl ... -TB-VS.exe
Once you've downloaded the .exe, place it in your TrackIR folder. Start the software using this .exe and it should fix this particular crash.
We're still investigating any other particular AMD + OpenGL related issues, and whether we can circumvent them on our end.

Hey Seth.
It seems to work this way. Did a test now with 12.10 and your tool and I can startuip the TIR5 software. Thanks
Just have a qustion. The 5.2 setup makes in my system a automatic startup of the "normal" trackIR5.exe. Should I let this line in the startup or should I cancel the loading of this file? ANd what happens if I activate "load at startup".. the software will load the "old" trackIR5.exe and not the new pached file? So I have to load it manual every time?
Hope this soloution will also work with the following 12.11 drivers..

Hi Seth,
I have made a lot of tests at the last weekend and will send you my experience:
Based on a running system with ATI driver 12.6, TrackIR driver 5.0 and DisplyLInk driver 7.0m3 (USB monitor) following changings are made.
1) ATI driver 12.10, TrackIR driver 5.0, DisplyLInk driver 7.0m3 and no Vertical Sync / no Triple Buffering : TrackIR5 doesnt work
2) ATI driver 12.10, TrackIR driver 5.0 and DisplyLInk driver 7.0m3, no Vertical Sync / no Triple Buffering and TrackIR5-TB-VS.exe: TrackIR5 doesnt work
3) ATI driver 12.10, TrackIR driver 5.2.1 and DisplyLInk driver 7.0m3, no Vertical Sync / no Triple Buffering TrackIR5-TB-VS.exe: TrackIR5 works as Cupra has described before.
Good job!
Maybe perhaps could help this information to improve the workaround. If you need more tests dont hesitate to send me another beta version.
Cheers

Because I can't edit my post I will have to make a new one. vsync ON and Triple Buffer ON is a option I have to use. There is no way to skip that.
Functional Tests I will make tomorrow evening.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. If anyone else downloads and confirms a fix, please let us know here on this thread.
