Sometimes a simple change of USB (on the pc not a hub) will force the OS to reinstall the drivers.

Also, make sure that you are running the latest sschipset drivers for the system, as it can remedy several USB issues...

Also disable the USB power saving feature...

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s) that show and turn off the power saving feature that turn those ports off when idle. Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Vincent,

Did the screen shots help? Any further suggestions? I seems strange that the editor program would send the software to lock up when the basic function of the software works otherwise.

No. I use AVG antivirus normally, but I have disabled everything I can to test for cause of the problem.

I tried it on a machine with XP Home and the editor did open. What kind of software or hardware conflict would specifically prevent the editor from executing?
