Have you tried a clean install of the TrackIR "beta" software?

Uninstall, delete the NaturalPoint folder on the c:\ drive, then reinstall the "beta" software.

Microsoft Windows Firewall will not exhibit this behavior

The clean install of the beta software did the trick. I finally have a blue LED. I didn't perform a backup of any of the files and now that I've deleted the folder, I don't have the Vector Expansion anymore (mine was an addon to TrackIR 3). Can I retreive something from the Recycle Bin? I checked your FAQ area for this, but didn't see anything for re-entering the codes. How do I get my 6DOF back?
Thanks for your help, it's great to be able to scan again.

UPDATE - I found my original paperwork, filled in the numbers and whammo, 6DOF!!!
What is the difference between TrackIR 3 and 4? Is there a resolution difference that would make smoother movements?

Here is a product comparison page for the differences between the TrackIR 3, and the TrackIR 4.

For those of you running Vista and having trouble getting the "blue light" to appear when running FSX, like me... this fixed it for me:

After having tried to manually reinstall the simconnect.dll file as mentioned in all previous posts, I didn't succeed at all. I ran into file accessibility problems because me administrator account under vista for some *(^&**& reason did not let me alter/delete/rename/overwrite the file at all. This fioxed it for me though:

Download and install the SDK SP1 from Microsoft. (Use Google)

From C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\

run SimConnect installer

this apparently reinstalls the correct simconnect.dll

run both TrackIR 4 as well as FSX with administrator privileges.

It worked for me! Happy landings!

Thanks CALK79! This process was beginning to beat me down until you came along. I think this post should be pinned.

Hi there,

I have a similar problem. TrackIR4 worked fine with my Vista Ultimate 64bit set up until I installed FSX.

Now the blue light flashes but the TrackIR software says 'Status:No Device' and 'Tracking:dot' even though I'm using a TrackClip.

I've reloaded the TrackIR drivers and software.
I've tried the simconnect.dll fix but that didn't work either.
(Even loaded the SDK kit in especially).

I found a simconnect 'manifest' file in the TrackIR directory, so deleted that, but no change.

Any ideas anyone?!!!
I can't bring myself to play FSX WITHOUT TrackIR!

(If I uninstall (last resort) FSX does the problem go away?)

Cheers,

RBG

This looks like more of a unit detection issue, on the system.........

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

OK dumb question:
How do I attach a screenshot?
If I click the 'attach an image' button it asks for a URL???
I have the images in a Word doc at present.
Thx

OK this is weird.

Tried the unit on my old system where it has previously run with no problems (on XP). As soon as I plugged it in the system asked for a valid driver (even though TrackIR software & drivers were already loaded). Once I inserted the TrackIR CD and let it search it found the drivers, installed and everything began to work.

Back to my Vista machine, uninstalled the drivers for the unit, uninstalled the TrackIR software, unplugged the unit from the USB port.

Started from scratch - loaded software and drivers from the CD.
Then plugged the unit in - system says it's searching for valid drivers.
Finds drivers and warns about unsigned drivers.
Click OK.
Then get error message that drivers were not installed successfully????????
(Screenshots to follow)

PS USB ports are fine - blue light is flashing so power not an issue. Tried both the hub and ports at back of machine - no effect. Other peripherals working fine.
