We have a 12 V100:R2 camera system and have seen an error we haven't seen before. When calibrating the system everything was fine for the first calibration, all other attempts to calibrate produce a "Camera identifier changed during wanding process".
When the error first pops up I notice the frame rate in each window drops from 100 to 1-5 fps and if I let Arena (v1.7.3) continue to run Arena eventually crashes. Rebooting the system doesn't seem to solve the problem and continues to show the error message within a few seconds of wanding.
We are running Windows XP SP3 and have tried on a Windows 7 machine with the same results. All the USB ports are high speed, and one of the two OptiHubs is using both USB extenders. We are extending the sync cable by 6' foot however the error continues with just the single 30' cable supplied. Other than that everything is standard setup.
Any suggestions

Re: Camera identifier Error During Calibration
I have added some additional information which was left out of the original post and/or is new information that was just discovered. These items are listed below:
- Both the OptiHubs w/Cameras are on different USB 2.0 Host controllers and are running at high speed
- We are only using one (1) USB extender with one of the OptiHubs the other hub is connected directly to the PC
- When wanding a message sometimes appears (very quickly, had to film it to read it) that says "3-Point Wand Expected"
- We have tried the single marker calibration. The wanding process never shows the camera identifier message and appears to complete fine however during calculation phase no data was reported in the output window and Arena never finished the calculation process. I suspect the same error occurred but was handled differently due to the old calibration method
- The latest version of Arena has crashed during the wanding or calculation phase several times on both Windows XP and Windows 7
- We have reproduced the camera identifier message during the calibration process on three different machines, two Windows 7 and one Windows XP.

Re: Camera identifier Error During Calibration
First and foremost, I would check to ensure that the synchronization cable is properly installed and is not broken or otherwise damaged. This can often be the cause of this type of issue.
Additionally, try calibrating just 6 cameras on a single hub. If this works, switch hubs and try again. This may help identify a damaged hub.

Re: Camera identifier Error During Calibration
Thanks for the information. We were able to eliminate this error by switch to yet another PC which had all USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 and is an overall faster machine. The machines we were using, we had used before with no problems however it was with earlier versions of Arena.
Currently, the only issue we are having and this actually doesn't seem to cause any issues while calibrating although I am curious what it means. The issue I am referring is during calibration you can sometimes see the message "3 pointer wand expected", although it flashes very quickly and to read it we had to video tape it and slow it down. Can you shed some light on this message, what does it mean, is it a problem, and if so what is the cause?
Lastly, we have seen several crashes on all systems with the latest Arena but I will post this message in the Arena forum.
Thanks for your assistance

Can you send me the video, or a link to it if it is over 10MB in size? support@naturalpoint.com
