Hello.
Since the last two weeks I've been detected an issue on my one year old TrackIR5, the left (signal checker) led started to flash strangely, couple of seconds on and off, again and again. Than, I tested the rear cover with my fingers and it was pretty much hot, not so extremly, but hot, apparently. (I've no experience of heating limits or accepted processing unit temperature)
The problem returns approximately once in a week, only while gaming, and mostly with the IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover.
With other games the problem is not squarely confirmed.
There is no light-source or other light disturb behind me. Important: While the led is flashing, the head movement do not stop, it is working properly, or unspotted.
A total reinstall of the drivers and software of the device have been completed well.
Does anyone met with an issue like this?
Thank You!
Other necessary information:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
CPU: Athlon 64 X2
RAM: 3GB
TrackIR used with: Vector Trackhat

Re: 1 year old Model 5 overheat
When the light starts flashing, can you switch to the TrackIR software and check the camera view? What does it look like? If you could post a screenshot we can try to identify the issue for you more directly.
Re: 1 year old Model 5 overheat
Yes, I did this.
If I switch to the *camera view* where I can see the objects tracked, it shows all the 3 objects are necessary and the flashing stops instantly! Than I tried to play another game the problem does not came again. (as I said I'm mostly playing with the IL-2 Cliffs of Dover)
Interesting. It looks like a software related problem, maybe (x64OS+)TrackIR software+IL-2CLOD does not like each other.
Or a performance issue? Insufficient hardware background?

Re: 1 year old Model 5 overheat
Odds are that it's more coincidental. Switch back to camera view when the problem resurfaces, and look specifically at your range of motion and other objects that may be in the background.
