Is it possible to mix V100 and V100R2 cameras?

Post by Admir »

We have 6 V100 cameras tested and working. We used sync cables between them and DLink's hubs or direct connection to PC in USB2.0 and 3.0 ports.

Now we got 8 V100R2 cameras and 2 Optihubs. They dont use sync cables between them, just one sync cable between hubs.

I have tried various combinations to make 6 v100 and 6 v100r2 work together as FAQ says it is possible but without luck. I am using Arena 1.7 version.

I have tried with and without active usb active extension cables.
Arena finds all cameras but they are numbered in multiple same numbers (2 1's, 2 2'1 etc...). 2 cameras of 12 never see anything when press play and when i enter camera calibration all cameras are there but 2 dont work.

The setups i tried using is 12 cameras connected to 2 optihubs (with sync cable between them) with 6 v100 connected with sync cables. I have tried without sync cables as well.

Any idea should this work? Or it is impossible?

One thing i noticed is that in project's camera roll over, cameras are connected to generic hub instead of onboard hub. I cant send you pics now but it could be the problem.

I have a mix of v100 and v100r2's.. what I have done is connect the first optihub to the first camera, ( so sync out from optihub to sync in on the first camera) then sync all the rest the usual way as if you had only v100 cameras.. no connections between optihubs..

Thnx Bryan for the info. I took nap and checked OptiHub Quick Start Guide.pdf again for mixed cameras setup. So you have R2 connected to Optihub without sync cables, R1 to generic hub with sync cables and sync cable coming from Optihub to 1st R1 camera ?

There's actually 2 ways you can do it to get good results:

Connect everything as if you had all v100 cameras (camera v100 to camera v100r2, etc) and pretend you don't have Optihubs and the way above.. the only difference is that the first connection is between the Optihub and the first camera (whether it be v100 or v100r2)

hope this helps

Thnx for reply.
So i would need sync cables between r1 and r2 ? Because i dont have them, i have sync cables for 6 r1 as r2 use sync from optihub (have additional sync cable for 2 optihubs). I though connecting 6 r1 with sync cables and on Dlink hub, 6 r2 on optihub and 1st r1 to optihub with sync cable.

Would that work ?

The thing is, when you are using mixed cameras, you need the sync cables between all of them, so you will have to buy additional sync cables and splitters.. there's no other way of doing it..

Hy Bryan, thnx for the further info.
I have got generic splitters and sync cables and connected original 6 r1, things look good so far. I am off to add r2s....

I have a request for you in the shoulder issue thread. We can finish troubleshooting it there.

Glad to hear you have it going!
