TrackIR and CFS2
TrackIR and CFS2
Hello Natural Point Team!
May I ask a Question?
WHY DOES NOT TRACKIR SUPPORT CFS2?
1.Marketing Reason?
2.Technical Reason?
3.Other?
I 've really enjoyed my TracjIR3ProVE with FS9, CFS3, IL2/PF, and BoBII in the past several months.
And, I realized this should be essential for FS Combat Sims.
Therefore, I still feel very sad you never try to support CFS2 at all. Why?
I think even CFS2 population is as much as CFS3 ones. Or, CFS2 has some technical problems for TrackIR working properly?
Please let me know.
I am looking forward to TrackIR support for CFS2.
Kind Regards,

CFS2 is an older game. While we do try and support as many games as we can, they take time to add in. I do not believe that we will add support for this game due to it's age but I will check on Monday and see whats on the "to do" list.
Re: TrackIR and CFS2
Hi Rick!
Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes, CFS2 is older. However, BoBIIWoV is older as well because its base is Rowan's BoB.
To be honest, CFS3 is neither new at all.
Please consider to support CFS2.
P.S. I tried some Mapping Programmes to emulate TrackIR function on CFS2.
Please do not recommend this sort of software because it DID NOT work properly at all from my bitter experiences. It might be develped for some on-line games. But, on CFS2, I sadly say it was a shamble.

Re: TrackIR and CFS2
...YEP RICK there are quite a few CFS2 people out there still who would love to able to use there expensive addon for there beloved CFS2
.........WHICH is still being added to at all the time
..."it aint dying " as SIMS OUTHOUSE. NETWINGS. and SIMVIATION. will attest to
the original MFS product is no longer supported but the community is bigger than CFS3 and growing, as more planes and scenery and addons are developed by the talented designers and support groups
also FS2004 planes and scenery are being modified all the time to fly in CFS2 (so theres your longevity)
congratulations on a great step forward in flight(and game) addons
i use VECTOR all the time in FS9 and IL2
(looking forward to using it with CFS2 in the future)
cheerzs

Re: TrackIR and CFS2
Hi Rick,
I just wanted to add my voice to the request for TrackIR support for CFS2. I think that Egypt has very well covered the issue of quantity of player interest, and as he stated, CFS3 is newer, but it doesn't generate as much interest as the older CFS2. This morning, at the SOH, the total number of posts and messages to date are weighted 2 -1 for CFS2 over CFS3, and CFS2 runs second only to FS2002/FS2004, drawing far more interest and constant development over the other combat flight sims.
As a new member, and new to the product, I may not be asking this question in the right forum, so I apologize in advance. It's my understanding that TrackIR is at this time solely a Virtual Cockpit device. Is there, or has there ever any thought been given to applying it to the standard 2D cockpit where there is no panning, just the hat switch views? And, although the panning function doesn't exist, I wonder if TrackIR could translate the head movements to the different views that the hatswitch normally provides, rather than the panning motions. Or, is there any option for this at the moment with any flight sim?
Thanks,...J

Re: TrackIR and CFS2
Hi Rick,
any news about the support of cfs2?
CFS2 is the only Flight simulator I'm using regularly and I would buy TrackIR, if there is support for CFS2.

Re: TrackIR and CFS2
It's on our games to revisit.
Busy time of the year so not sure when we will have the time just yet to evaluate the game.

Re: TrackIR and CFS2
Currently, due to the age of the gaming application, I wouldn't expect any built inTrackIR support. If the game itself has a mouselook mode then you could use the TrackIR, and the mouse emulation application that we include.
