GREAT NEWS ON IL-2 FB

Post by Jim »

Hello:

I just tried out IL-2 FB with trackIR 2.0 in trackIR Enhanced Mode, all I can say is WOW!

This really got pulled off well, a huge thanks to Oleg and crew, Matt Wagner and Halstead York for getting this done. The integration is done so well that it really outshines standard Mouse View. The solution is very smooth and has great accuracy. I am actually surprised at how much better it is than mouse view. I think that you guys are going to be very very happy.

IL-2 FB release will be a huge deal for NaturalPoint and all trackIR owners. This is the beginning!

Lo Jim
I saw your post on this over at simhq. I do have a few questions though....

Does Oleg use a Track IR in his (limited) spare time on FB. I know he must have tested it to get it working with FB like it does (great news btw) but do you know if he actually uses it as an aid to his simming enjoyment?

I would like to know if you two have discussed it's merits at any point and what his views on the unit are.

thx

Precision per-se isn't really a big deal for cockpit viewing although a definite plus, since you don't have to aim with your head, but smooth panning motion is. TIR is acceptable as it is with IL2 with lots of practice, tweaking and pausing but if it's even better by say 20% I'm literally going to wet myself.

Is it possible to expand a little on this from what you've seen so far, on the technical side of things? Does it work even better than FS2002? I've never tried FS2002 since I don't have it yet and thus haven't tried TIR in enhanced mode but I'm still interested in how it's implemented.

Hello:

I don't know if Oleg uses trackIR or not. I know that they have a few units that we sent them. I would be curious to find out, anyone here have a direct line to him on this?

I think that FB is 50-100% better than standard mouse view, it is smoother for sure and allows for unlimited viewing movement. Also, I noticed that my mouse view stuttered a but when the game hit the HD, but with trackIR Enhanced it didn't. You guys will be able to tell me why it is better soon enough! Although, I do have the game and you don't! The benefits of being a developer I guess. Life is good.

Great new Jim this has been a long time coming and hopefully will boost your sales into space. This tile and also LOMAC (if TIR has built in support from the start) will be the big ones for you in the next 6 month I belive.

Mind you lets not forget Osram though who had the first Absolute mode in the 0.95 patch for BOB and he doesnt even benifit from anything other than thanks for his effort.

Jim, do you know if this is simply the gold version or a patched version that we won't have when the box arrives?

Great news! I thought I'd have to wait for a patch...

Did you find the "dead band" default profile settings trackIR provides worked the best?
