Stopped Working

Post by gfd »

Greetings,

I have set up TrackIR 5 to start with Windows. I set this up before without issue. Now though, every time I start Windows, TrackIR stops working. I have it set to run with highest privileges. There are no issues when I start the program manually.

Here are the details (they are consistent).

Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: TrackIR5.exe
Application Version: 5.2.0.200
Application Timestamp: 5110875a
Fault Module Name: StackHash_0a9e
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
Exception Offset: 618736e0
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Data: 00000008
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 4105
Additional Information 1: 0a9e
Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Additional Information 3: 0a9e
Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

I can start TrackIR with P3D but I would prefer to keep it running. Can you help me out?

Hello,

I searched the error codes you have provided and found a possible solution online. Could you please try the following:

1. Click on the Start menu and then go to the Control Panel.
2. Click on System Maintenance and then System.
3. Choose Advanced System Settings.
4. Under System Properties, select Settings from the Performance section at the top.
5. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
6. Select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.
7. Find the executable file for the application that triggered the error.
8. Select the application causing the error and click Open to add it to your DEP Exceptions list.
9. Click OK to save your new settings.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks for the reply Dustin,

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I changed DEP options to ...all except... I attempted to exempt TrackIR5.exe, but it was rejected by Windows.

I no longer start the product with Windows. I have started running it through FSUIPC.

<number>=StartIf, CLOSE "<TrackIR5>"

That opens the program with FSUIPC and it closes when FSUIPC shuts down.

TrackIR still intermittently crashes.

Faulting application name: TrackIR5.exe, version: 5.2.0.200, time stamp: 0x5110875a
Faulting module name: TIRViews.dll, version: 3.3.39.0, time stamp: 0x5110865c
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00005bd2
Faulting process id: 0x3e4c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d03e6bdfb9d91f
Faulting application path: S:\Programs\Naturalpoint\TrackIR5.exe
Faulting module path: S:\Programs\Naturalpoint\TIRViews.dll
Report Id: 1e73c8ea-aa5f-11e4-afa2-74d02b7f57b8

The common thread running through the events is TrackIR5.exe and faulting module: TIRViews.dll.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Graham

Hi Graham,

I found this post on the forums with the exact same issue:

I am not sure if you tried any of the suggestions on this post. Please give them a try and if you are still having an issue, create a ticket at help.naturalpoint.com.

Thanks Dustin,

If I disable that dll (TIRviews.dll), what effect will it have on the operation of TrackIR? Bear in mind I use TrackIR with EZdok, and so I have disabled the simconnect files in the program folder.

Thanks,

Graham

I am sure it would have a negative impact. I was hoping you would try a different version of the TrackIR software before removing any dll files.

Thanks Dustin

I looked at the post. It seems the only solution that had any luck was renaming the dll. Wouldn't that have the same effect as removing it? I could try renaming it and then restoring the original name.

Mike Witham suggested in March 2014 that a new version had been released. I checked your site and the version is 5.2.2., released in I checked earlier in the post and 5.2.2 was referenced. I have version 5.2.2(build 14548).

I notice there are older versions on your website. Which version would you suggest I install?

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Graham,

Would a remote desktop session be possible? If you can create a ticket at help.naturalpoint.com, I can have Mike arrange this desktop session with you.
