TrackIR5 Switches Windows Aero to Windows Basic

Post by maxam »

Using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with Aero Theme enabled. When I start TrackIR5 I receive a message stating the following:
The color theme has changed.... The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to windows 7 Basic.

Program: TrackIR5
Publisher: Natualpoint, Inc
Process Identifier (PID): 4116

Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running
I then re-enable Windows Aero with a utlilty that I found online but would like to know if there is a workaround or does TrackIR5 need to start in Windows Basic theme for the UI to work properly. I have tried various workarounds to no avail.

Thank you,

Robert

Robert,

I'm not sure what is causing this to happen. I will have my Dev look into possibilities, but TrackIR doesn't require you to change to Windows Basic in order to work. Could you please send me a list of your computer specs so we can look into the best possible solution.

Hello Mike,

I can gladly say that you can mark this as resolved or lock this thread as you wish. I found that the TrackIR5.exe was set in compatibility mode and once disabled via the "Properties\Compatibility'' tab the program starts and Windows Aero remains. Setting my programs to compatibility mode was something I learned a long time ago to do and it was just a bad habit that obviously caused me grief. Thanks anyway for your reply and offer of assistance.
