Experience with very long takes (~100 min)

Post by msb »

Hello,

I am using Motive 1.9.0 on a Win7 64-bit system. I have 3 Flex 13 cameras.

I am planning to do some very long takes (~100 minutes), tracking 3 rigid bodies, using an FPS of between 50 and 100 Hz. I will export the tracking data to .CSV files. I expect the take files to be around 5 - 10 GB in size, and the .CSV files to be about a tenth of this. Does anyone have any experience with long takes like this, and are there any problems I should know about? I will do a test run soon, but I just wanted to see if the community had some advice before I start.

Many thanks,
msb

Hello msb,

Thank you for reaching out to the community regarding the recording of large files in Motive.

A couple of versions ago, we did some development to improve the reliability of Motive when recording long takes. The last this was tested, I believe we had recorded takes that were hours in length, and verified that they were loading correctly. As long as you are using the latest versions of Motive and are running a 64 bit version, this should be the case.

Very long takes can still be cumbersome when it comes to viewing and editing data so, whenever possible, we still recommend trying to record shorter takes.

If you encounter any issues, please feel free to reach out to us at help.naturalpoint.com

Best,
Steven
