unable to find skrleton markers

Post by stoicastanciu »

I followed the video tutorials, calibration etc, etc... but when i'm trying to create skeleton, it tells me that "unable to find skeleton markers". In my scene i can preview my markers when i am costumed with all the needed markers visible on me. Ask me for more info please. Have a nice day!

Hello stoicastanciu,

Thank you for reaching out to the community regarding your skeleton creation issue.

I have seen this error several times, and it has almost always had something to do with the calibration.
When you calibrate your cameras, it is necessary to make sure the OptiWand size setting, in the Calibration pane, matches the physical size of the wand. If these two do not match, the scale of the data will be off and Motive will be unable to create the skeleton.

When setting the ground plane, it is also necessary to place the Calibration Square on the floor, so that the subject would be standing on the grid correctly in Motive.

If you are confident your calibration settings are correct, you can also double-check your marker positions against the avatar that is shown in the Skeleton pane.
When creating the skeleton, It is important for the performer to stand in a perfect T-Pose that looks as close to the avatar's T-Pose as possible.

I hope this information helps you to resolve this issue. If you require further assistance, please open a Support ticket with us at help.naturalpoint.com so we can troubleshoot this further.

Best,
Steven

I think I've calibrated correctly, so I uploaded a link with a .rar file with a couple of photos of each step what I've made. I tried all your advices but i'm still getting the same result. "unable to find skeleton markers". Please review the photos. Have a nice day!

Hi stoicastanciu,

Thank you for uploading these images.

I do not see a photo of the calibration wand that was used for the wand wave, only the calibration square.
Could you please measure the distance between the 2 outer markers on the calibration wand that you are using for the wand wave and share that distance here? There is usually an engraving at the top of the wand that also tells you what size it is, usually 250mm or 500mm. If you are using the 250mm wand the OptiWand setting needs to be updated with this value in the Calibration pane.

If you you could please open a Support ticket with us at help.naturalpoint.com and submit a recorded .tak file of your actor standing in a T-Pose, this may also help me to look into your issue further.

Thanks,
Steven

So you are saying it matters which of the two magic wands i am using? I saw i have two different kind of magic wands, one bigger than other. I've used the small one, i think the one who have 250 mm. I saw also that there on the calibration wand and calibration square are two different spots where i can fix my 3 markers. Big distance between them and small one. I have to set small to square and small to wand, am i right? If yes, i think I've done this already, i will check again to be sure and if still doesn't work i will send the Support ticket.

Hi stoicastanciu,

That is correct; the size of the wand that is used during calibration matters. If you are using the 250mm wand, you will need to select 255mm for the OptiWand setting in the Calibration pane.

It is not necessary to adjust the size of the Calibration Square; you should be able to set the ground plane with either of the configurations.

Cheers,
Steven
