TrackIR5 Not Working - Camera Only Sees Red Bars

Post by svet-am »

I have been using my TrackIR 5 for a number of years without any issues. I recently went to use it and it wasn't responding at all. I opened up the TrackIR software and I noticed that the camera view window is showing nothing but red bars. The indicator LEDs on the TrackIR itself are not coming on and I never see the green dots in the camera view window, either.

Is this a known issue (hopefully with a known fix) or has my TrackIR finally given up the ghost after years of diligent service?

svet-am,

Sorry to say that this looks like a problem with the internal sensor, and there is no fix available for this issue.

Hello,

it's strange, but yesterday here occured absolutely same problem as by svet-am. After few restarts (plug and unplug of cable, reinstall of SW) it started up again for yesterday evening, but now it's again dead. Sometimes it works for few seconds and I can see three bright green points. But after a while there often starts strips (like by svet-am screenshot) or bright green points changes to "big red spots". It seems, that camera reacts, but can't focus.

Mike, please, are you sure, that this cannot be some software issue? For me was TrackIr quite expensive device, so I'm praying for its life :). But after years of service it's maybe really in silicon heaven :).

Thanks a llot,

Fucida

fucida,

It sounds like yours is in the same boat. It works right off the bat because it is cooler but once it gets a small amount of heat it exacerbates the issue. You could try to keep it cooler, but it won't work for long. I wish I could tell you it was an easy software fix, but unfortunately I can't.
