I've had my TrackIR for quite a while now, and I've not been able to get it to work well because of the position that I sit in relative to where the camera is, and I read somewhere that you can set the camera up behind your head, which for me I think is probably the best option as in front is too far away, and too high, and the angle at which I have to look at the screen.
The general result is that the camera is set 12-18 inches above my head and probably 6-7 feet away (I'm guessing these distances as I know metric but not imperial, but I think they're pretty close), AND is not in the top centre of the TV screen as I cannot sit directly in front of the centre of the screen so I am always looking at it on an angle. I can angle the screen easily but am loath to do so as I fear I will not accurately be able to reproduce the angle when moving it for different activities (ie movies, different genres of games etc).
I have a tripod I can set up behind me, but in order that the left and right head movement be monitored correctly, I surmise that the front plane of the camera should somehow match that of the clip. I just don't know where to start.
I tried very hard to get it to work from the front, [which I would prefer, because I can hide the cables and such, and leave it positioned there permanently, but putting the tripod in the front is immersion breaking and distracting], but I found with the angle left to right, I get great sensitivity and accuracy on one side but not the other, and I also get very limited vertical use because I cannot seem to find he correct angle for the clip so the the camera can see the sensors when I look down.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The games I wish to use TrackIR with are Elite Dangerous and racing games like iRacing, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa and maybe Dirt Rally.
