FALCON And Track Ir

Post by THOR »

Well I boutght this product about 6 months ago and it will not work in falcon other than a mouse pointer. Thats too bad as I thought they were goin to fix the problem Soo much for wishful thinking. Since my purchase the unit has been just a paper weight on my computer, if it was pluged into my system, the short cord would only allow limited placement of the unit. I found this to be a big let down but a humble begining to something that could very well turn out to be a a huge advantange someday.
But for all you falcon lovers ,such as myself, that day as yet to arrive with this product.

Feel the same way about the Track IR. Seems to work reasonably well with Strike fighters but have not really taken to the Strike Fighters. Can't really get it to work with F4 but reading the posts looks like there may be a solution--copied this from the forum--

Get it here! http://24.184.249.248:9999/FlightSim/TIRF4.Zip

Test report to follow soon, thanks Kx2us!

Hoidy,

Received the file yesterday from a friend who wanted me to try it out..

Well I followed the description exactly,
1. added the -head, (i.e. falcon4sp.exe -head) to the properties on the shortcut
2. started TrackIr software in enhanced mode..
3. cranked up F4
4. minimized F4
5. started tirf4.exe
6. back to F4, dogfight, 3d cockpit.

And it worked..

I had loaded my FB profile, and it is a bit on the agressive side for F4, I could also look straight behind me (fixed for FB). My FB deadzone seemed a bit on the large side for F4, but what the heck... it works !!!

Haven't looked further yet, perhaps there is a possibility to switch from enhanced view in 3d cockpit to 2d cockpit with mouselook?

Not sure but i think this is first release of this tool.. Can only get better and it's already an improvement !!! --copied from the forum

Thor --have not tried the above yet but will be trying it this week end so I'll see. But this will be great once we can get it to run on f4--it is a great situational awareness tool!
