It's too fast

Post by Jabout »

Overall it works well, but my unit seems to work too fast or is too sensistive.

Although I have the speed settings very low; 1 1 2 3 4 4 4 5, I very often swing through the visual target, back across, back across it again, and again etc

If I set even lower speed settings then I have to turn my neck over my shoulder to check my six, but then I can hardly see the monitor!

Any ideas?

You might use the 'Precision' mode - set a hotkey for this in the software. When precision is clicked on you can more easily make tiny precise movements.

I now have the speed settings set to 0 at all the edit points and it's still too fast or too sensitive to my head movements.

For example if a plane flies across my field of vision and I attempt to visually lock on, the centre of my view races ahead of him.

I then freeze, he then passes through the centre of my view, I then move again to try and track him but my centre of view races ahead of him again and the process repeats itself.

(I tried precision mode, but it doesn't seem to have any effect).

I'm can see this piece of kit is going to be highly immersive once it's sorted, but I'm not sure what to try next - any suggestions gratefully received.

Jabout,

It sounds as if you just need a good setup for your unit.

What Sim are you playing?
Drop me an e-mail at work so that I can forward you my profile, but I will need to know what game.

How close are you to your unit? If you are very close and you are using the TrackHAT then this will increase your speed.

I am sure we will soon have you set up.

Not to insult your intelligence, but are you saving the profile after every change? Shouldnt matter, but having all edit points to 0 and it still moving is odd.

Oh don't worry about insulting my intelligence - I'm used to that (I'm married!)

However, it's now working satisfactorily Wayne sent me a profile and suggested I move it further out, which I have done to 23inches and I have a small ball covered in reflective material on the peak of my cap which also helps.
