Side Mounted? 90 degree anyone got it workin?

I need to side mount the unit.

Has anyone found trick to get it to work as well as from the front or rear in this position. It is not moving around very well I tried lots of different spots for the dot. maybe takes several dots? is there a trick to this position. I got a small head too heh.
