Dear Wayne,
This is my first post at this forum.
I had TIR3 Pro working a few days ago, but now I only get the message "Status: No Data" when I start up the program.
I've verified that "NaturalPoint trackIR 3" appears in my list of USB drivers, and that it says it's working correctly. It says the driver version is 1.30.0000.
I've also installed the 3.12 version of the program (I made sure the device was unplugged from the USB port when I did the install).
A strange thing happens when I have the device plugged in and then try to start the program (double-clicking on its icon):
The main window identifies the Track IR 3 Pro and the serial: 17690, and I assume it must be getting that info from the device itself, so it must be able to communicate with it.
However, after a few seconds, WinXP pops up a message saying it doesn't recognise the device!
Then when I go and look at the Hardware again, the TIR device has vanished from the list.
If I then unplug the device from the USB port, then plug it back in again, the device reappears in the list, with the correct name, but only for a moment, before vanishing again.
However, if I close the program, and then unplug, plug in again, the device, it reappears in the list and stays there.
If I then click in the icon again, nothing happens - the program doesn't start ... but there is a NaturalPoint.exe in the task list.
Next I unplug the device, and lo and behold, a message from the program appears, asking "Is the device plugged in?". So I click OK, and the program's main window appears (with NO identification of the device's serial number this time). Then I plug the device back in, and there's no change - it still says "Status: No Data".
One more thing, if I press F10 (to disable the TIR3), the red LED comes on. So I'm sure there is some kind of communication with the device.
I'd really appreciate any help you can provide. The device is a gem when it works, and now I can't face going back to using a hat switch to pan around in FS9
P.S. I tried starting it again, and for a moment just before the No Data message appeared, I got a black tracking screen with a single green line through it, near the top.

This is very strange. Is it possible to check the unit on another computer?

Yes, I'll try it out on my PC at work (it's W2K Pro, not WinXP, but I don't suppose that matters). I'll let you know what happens.

Re: Tir3 Pro - "Status: No Data"
Hi Wayne,
I tried it out at work, and the symptoms were identical. So I suppose it means the device itself is broken. It's strange, because it's never been dropped or mishandled in any way, and I got it only a short time ago.
Any suggestions?
Mike

Thanks Mike for testing that for me.
If you could e-mail me with a serial number and a screen shot of what you see.
Thanks
