Sudden TrackIR 5 Problems. Freezing in IL2 Game / Off Center

Post by Fyve_By_Fyve »

Over the last couple of weeks I've had intermittent problems with my Track IR 5 completely freezing during online play in IL2 (Combat Box) and at other times the camera will simply skew off to the right. Centering it with F12 does nothing.

I had the camera plugged into my AGON monitor. I thought this might be the problem so I plugged it into a native port on my computer. This seemed to fix the problem for a few days but tonight the skewing happened again.

I have not done a complete uninstall/reinstall but I'm about to.

I cannot think of anything else that might have brought this on. Any help would be appreciated. I hope I don't have to buy a whole new setup. If so, I might put the money into a VR headset instead.

I have uninstalled / reinstalled. The problem continues. Sometimes it happens right away. Sometimes it takes a few minutes. Either way, what happens is that my view is skewed either to the left or right. So much so that at times I'm all the way out of the cockpit. This happens offline and online. At first it was just happening online. When I check the app on the desktop everything is fine. So, is it a problem with the game or a problem with Track IR?

This is extremely frustrating because I haven't been able to play in over a week. I hope someone offers some advice here.

Hello Fyve_ByFyve,

As noted in our User Manual, we recommend plugging the TrackIR into a USB port on your computer. "For best results, directly connect the TrackIR into a USB port on your computer. We do not recommend using a USB hub of any kind." I would also try the following steps:

1. Right click on the start menu and select Device Manager.
2. Locate Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. For each item in this list with the word “hub” in its name, double click on the item and go to the Power Management tab.
4. Uncheck the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” and press OK.
5. Repeat for all USB hub devices.
6. Restart the computer.

If that didn't resolve the issue, follow these steps

1. Open Control Panel and navigate to Control Panel
2. Select All Control Panel Items
3. Open Power Options.
4. Click "Change plan settings."
5. Click "Change advanced power settings."
6. Find USB settings > USB selective suspend setting in the list, and ensure that it is set to disabled.
7. Press OK and reboot your computer.

If the tracking is behaving normally in the TrackIR software, then the issue must be the connection to the game itself. Have you tested the TrackIR with any other games?

Kind Regards,
