Device not detected

Hi, this is my first problem ever, even though no3 is an old gadget. But it works flawlessly. Maybe you don't even support it any more, but I'd need just an idea of two to point me in the right direction.
Namely, now having installed MSFS2024 I updated the driver. I see trackIR3 in the device manager, but the app says "device not detected." I've tried several usb holes and no change. I hear the bell when I plug in and unplug but the red lights on the track ir don't turn on. I've reinstalled the driver several times after having cleaned the registry from anything that contained words naturalpoint and trackir but to no avail. I also installed the driver on a laptop, copy/pasted the created naturalpoint folder to the first pc and pointed trackir in the device manager to the folder. Nothing. I pointed it also to the freshly downloaded driver, but it never installs anything, just says that I have the latest driver.
I'm out of the ideas.. Is it compatibility issue? Maybe I should install some older version of the driver? Where can I find it?

Hello DrMelanogaster,

The TrackIR3 was discontinued about 20 years ago, and we no longer provide support for this product. As a result, we have not tested the newer versions of the TrackIR software (i.e. 5.5.0 and above) with the TrackIR3 or TrackIR4. I suggest trying the 5.4.2 version of the software instead. It can be downloaded here: https://www.trackir.com/downloads/.
