TrackIR 5 Question

TrackIR Question
I was upgrading the TrackIR to add MSFS2025. It says it has an update to download. So I download. Now TrackIR won't show up on my screen nor will the yellow light come on, but Task Manager shows in the lower files. Not up at top though for desktop. Nothing on the Task Bar, but when you try to start again,it say it's already running.

I tried repairing it a couple times. Went down couple version back to where I was. And it won't show on the screen now either. But shows in Task Manager lower section as running..

I put Version 5.4.0 in and it started. How much higher you think I can go in versions?

Hi sircaptgordo,

The software has different settings that can allow it to minimize to the system tray, which can improve performance while using the software with a game or simulator. Have you tried double clicking the TrackIR icon in that area (you may need to expand the system tray to locate the icon)? Once you open the software, you can click on the wrench icon in the upper left to change the settings, unchecking "Minimize To System Tray", "Automatically Minimize On Game Launch" and "Run Minimized".

If you are still having trouble locating the icon in the system tray, you can also manually make those changes to the Settings.xml file located in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5. With the TrackIR software closed, you would edit these lines:

<RunMinimized>0</RunMinimized>
<MinimizeToTray>0</MinimizeToTray>
<AutoMinimize>0</AutoMinimize>

Then save the file and reopen the TrackIR software.

If you have a TrackIR 4 or TrackIR 3, I would recommend using 5.4.2. Those models are not supported on version 5.5.0 and above.

ok, I'll check. Now if the system tray is the pop-up on the lower right of the task bar. It never was in there after downloading the 5.4 version or 3 or 2. The only place that showed I downloaded it was in lower section of the Task Manager.

I'll go see what I got.

Hi sircaptgorod,

It is possible that the Minimize to System Tray setting was not set by default on previous versions. You can change the behavior by modifying the setting.

Turns out I have TrackIR 4, not 5. I thought I had upgraded to 5 somewhere down the line. But since I couldn't get it to open I couldn't check til now. I'll use the Version you talked about.

Up in the left corner the 1st box was unchecked. sending to system tray.
